With all the stuff thats been revealed to us in the last few eppisodes, this is something that seems to be, well...off.

The youngest known Other...is Alex who presumably was that last birth on the island.
No women ON the island can get pregnant.
It's a stretch to think "Jacob" would "recruit" a child...ala Patchy/Juliet

Can't say where Karl is from but I do believe he is older than Alex. We got a good look at him in last night's ep and he doesn't look 16.

Alex doesn't look 16 either. I think we're just supposed to take their word for it. However, I am still not sure that Danielle's message has been playing for 16 years. I think Sayid got his math wrong.

But Danielle herself claims at any given chance (eg, Greatest Hits epi)that her messages been on a loop for the last 16 years!the question is not whether she thinks its 16 or more as it doesnt matter what both Sayid or Danielle think!time goes by differently on the island!we can be sure of that by now!maybe Carl didnt spend all his life there!hence his older looks

Didn't Juliet say that Karl had taken some X-rays of Ben in one of the flashbacks in "One of Us?" He is very young, but is it possible that he's some kid prodigy who was recruited to the Island?

Yes, Karl was the one who took the X Rays. What makes me wonder about him was why was he in the cage next to Sawyer's? Was it just to keep him away from Alex, or was there something more sinister going on?

Unfortunately not.
I just find it non-linear, or very TV-like that all the clothes remain in pretty much perfect shape.
Also after 3 months worth of growth I'd look like Kingsley Holgate, yet these people's hair never gets longer, they retain that 3day old beard look, etc.

itll be interesting to see how they keep alex looking sixteen now that they are STRETCHING THE SHOW FOR ANOTHER THREE SEASONS!
isn't that the reason they got rid of walt (potentially the best and most interesting character) because the actor was aging to fast? anyone know how old the actor who plays alex will be by the time the show ends? my guess is they'll skip like a year or something in between seasons just to explain the age difference.

i've had that thought for the longest time....the whole skipping a year thing...that's the only way that Aaron and Michael Jr. ( hahahaha.... Sun's baby ) will be able to have some importance on the island...

So did Karl actually TAKE the xrays or just carried them over to Juliet (or was it Ben)?I guess they were taken by Goodwin not Karl

I've also wondered about the scarring/marks on Carl's face. Do you think there's any significance? Is it supposed to indicate anything about who he is?

I've never given Karl a second thought until you mentioned it, and now it is quitebaffling as to what his history is!

Hopefully we'll find out, as we last saw he is amongst the Losties now, so may be in line for a flashback episode if he sticks with them.

Does it really matter? I really haven't thought about it and still don't. He's just another other. He may even die in the finale. I doubt he is incredibly important.

Don't forget, when Sayid told her how long the loop was playing I thought I remembered her saying, "has it been that long?" Being alone on an island with whispery whispers in the jungle could most likely help you to lose track of time--so you're right, it could be that Sayid calculated incorrectly and it's more than 16 years.

Or it could be no years, who the hell knows anymore with this show!:rolleyes:
