I know they have other things on their minds, but I'm surprised that since Karl and Danielle are both with the losties at this time, someone (like Kate since she talked to Danielle about Alex and knows Karl) hasn't brought these two together to talk. I know that we have not flat out been told that Danielle is her mother, but we're pretty sure that is the case. We learned last night that Karl and Alex know that she is not Ben's daughter. (and I believe that Karl is the one who told Alex this, because I think he may be one of the "ageless" like Richard and was their when Alex was taken as an infant) (hide that, just in case someone thought it might be considered a little spoilerish)

I know that they haven't really visited the Alex/Danielle situation, but I just thought someone should introduce the two!

Isn't it that Alex suspects she is not Ben's daughter because Sayid told her she resembled her mother? If Ben could lie to her about that, maybe she suspects he is lying about being her father.

I think Alex has long suspected that she wasn't Ben's child. From the first time we saw Ben and Alex together, it seemed like she knew things weren't right and there was tension. They way her and Karl spoke about Ben being not being her father last night, gave me the impression that they both knew the truth that she wasn't his biological child.

I also kinda wonder if Karl hasn't done a double take on Danielle and noticed the resemblance.

Well, if all of the Others know that there is a problem with carrying babies to term on the island, and Ben supposedly has lived there is whole life (Do the rest of the Others believe that? I don't think that has been established - Richard met Ben in the jungle as a child and he knows Ben's mother died off-island, but that wouldn't necessarily mean Ben was born off-island. We know he was- but do the Others?)....then how does he explain being her biological father? Even if all the Others know that Ben came to the island as a child, we have to assume that Alex was born there.

Add that to the fact that Alex knows that Ben has been baby-snatching for a long times...why would she NOT assume that he's not her father? It seems more likely that he's NOT than to assume that he is.

By the way, if Ben took Alex from Danielle during one of their raids, its strange that he would also call her Alex. I mean, did he stop to chat and ask Danielle what her name was? Or why bother keeping the same name?

I've been thinking Danielle isn't as crazy for quite some time now. She's been cleaner, more social, more helpful, etc. And whereas she might have looked strange going after that dynamite a few eps ago, obviously there was a purpose and a plan for it that made sense (well, about as much sense as Lost ever makes. Heh.)

Good points. She has been through a lot over the last 16 years and been alone almost that whole time. That will make you somewhat wierd. She has a purpose now beyond just survival and seems to be pulling it together. She also has a lot of survival and combat skills for a scientist on a scientific survey with her husband.
