I find it very odd that Penny did not know who Naomi is, but Naomi had a picture of Penny and Desmond.

Naomi's ship is just miles offshore, and Penny had no idea what Charlie was talking about when he asked her if she was from the rescue boat.

So, could it be that Naomi's crew are the "bad" guys and Penny's crew are the "good" guys, both trying to find the island for different reasons?

Maybe Penny and Desmond were manipulated to be together so that someone- the woman and her monk son- could find the island? They knew Penny would- and could- find it?

That's certainly possible. Or maybe that woman had to make sure Desmond did not propose to Penny to set a chain of events that had to happen in order to get to this situation.

I'm thinking the Others and Losties team up next season and go against Naomi's crew, who are the "bad" guys. I think Ben was right about Naomi's team presenting great danger. Naomi got ahold of that picture to pretend she was part of Penny's rescue crew. What are their true intentions?
