Was there a limited number of seats on the rescue helicopter? Did Jack and Kate take the initial two seats that should have gone to Claire and Aaron (per Desmond's vision)? I wonder if once the rescue helicopter left the Island's perimeter it once again went "dark" and became invisible to the outside world? That would mean that Jack and Kate made it, but the rest were left behind. That would explain Kate's demeanor when Jack broached the subject of going back, and why he is so hellbent on doing so.

No. The person who died and Jack visited the funeral home to see was someone he and Kate both knew. Who else would they BOTH know, but someone else on the Island?

Some got off. Some didn't. We may discover more of who next season.

Eight months from now. :wallbash:

If the person was Michael (my preference), he had already returned to the outside world.

I think the majority got off the island... but he would call Kate before anyone else... because she's the one he's closest too (too bad for Juliet) ...

I'm thinking only a handful escape.

I suspect that the people who were at the radio tower were rescued, while the people who were at the beach still (Sawyer, Bernard, Jin, Sayid, Juliet, Hurley), Locke, Danielle and maybe Alex and Karl are not rescued.

Perhaps Desmond reaches the beach in time to warn those who're there about the false nature of Naomi and the crew of the Praetor, and they don't go.

This spoiler from several weeks ago is making more sense now the episode has aired:

From BuddyTV:
3.22/3.23 - Through the Looking Glass (Jack Centric)

This episode promises a Jack revelation of legendary proportions! Also, there will finally be an en masse collision between the beach folk and the Other's. On the speculation end of things, folks are saying that the island folk will split into two factions themselves, one led by Jack, and one by Sawyer, but the division will be at the will of another, and for purposes no one will expect.

Since Desmond's future flash finally played out this time, with Charlie dying exactly as he foresaw, I think we have to believe that Claire and Aaron were also rescued. In fact, the rescue of Clarie and Aaron was the reason Charlie accepted his fate and followed Des' vision. So at the very least, I think Jack, Kate, Claire and Aaron made it off the island. So why we didn't see Claire and Aaron in the flash-forward? Claire probably returned to Australia. Her only reason for going to the states was to give Aaron up (which I seriously doubt she would still want to do), so she probably would have returned home after being rescued... and confronted that psychic!

Well, unless that happened ;) Then, I suppose we could believe that only Jack and Kate made it off the island before Desmond interrupted the rescue. But he probably wouldn't have throught to use Bonnie's or Greta's walkie talkie to warn them because he wouldn't have known any Losties had one. So that means once he gets back to land, he's got an 8-hour walk just to get back to the beach camp.

I just wonder how the moment where Clair and Aaron get on a helicopter plays into all this.

Wasn't that Jin and Sun in the row behind Jack on the plane at the start of the flash forward? I thought it was and if so they obviously got off the island.

No, I really don't think that it was them.

...If Naomi and her crew are so bad how do at least Jack and Kate get off the island?
