I think it's the same Walt Shannon and Sayid saw.

Walt (astral)projecting himself... Ms. Klugh asked Michael "Has Walt ever appeared somewhere he shouldn't be?" ... ummm. YES!

I totally agree. If any of our losties were to be at home on the island and respect what situation they were in, it would be Walt and Locke. As we have seen, Jack lost his marbles because of leaving the island with apparently some unfinished business there. Too bad for him he doesn't possess the abilities that Walt does.

I think he cast himself out to Locke from wherever he was. I'm also thinking that where he was is the ship that was waiting off shore that seems to have been a bad thing. Walt and Michael left the island, but not for a minute have I thought that they have left the story.

That's right! I forgot all about her saying that. Good memory missioni.

I thought it may really be Walt because of Ms. Klugh's earlier remark, but I now think it was the island/Jacob. One thing I noticed was that "Walt" referred to Locke as "John," but before Walt left, he always called him "Mr. Locke." I think it is the Island/Smokey/Jacob that is using the vision of Walt to communicate with John. Especially since Ben said sarcastically that he hoped Jacob helped him.

Remember that was from season 1. Locke did not see Walt for over 60 days. 60 days which has completly changed Walt. The Other's did something to Walt that changed him. ITs easily understandable that Walt could be calling Locke John because he has matured from what happened to him.

I think it has to be Walt. Ms.Klugh's statement was said for a reason. Walt appeared to Shannon for a reason. TPTB seem real intent on keeping continuity, so I see no reason they wouldn't follow up with Walt's story. Not to mention TPTB have said they plan to get back to Walt and Micheal come season 4. This is the perfect way to segway into getting Walt back on the isalnd. Also add to the fact TPTB said they have a explination for the actor's rapid aging even though they have only been crashed for over 100 days. To me this little shot of Walt is all leading to him being back for season 4.

Now the big question will be, will Micheal be back with Walt in season 4. I know the actor who plays Micheal left Lost to star in his own show, so who knows if he will be back. Either way, I definatly want to see Walt back. Micheal or no Micheal.

Yeah I think it's really Walt. I remember that it had been a spoiler before the finale aired that the kid who plays Walt was listed on his myspace page as filming in Hawaii. We who saw that spoiler were all wondering what TPTB would say to explain the aging he must have done since season 1. Well, it seems now that alternate times are definitely possible as a solution for this story, and time passing more quickly outside than it does on the island has been proposed as a legitimate theory. This seems to hold some water now, because I don't know how else TPTB would explain the sudden onset of puberty.

i dont think the producers took into account early on that the actor playing Walt would suddenly mushroom. I dont believe his aging is a part of the plot line.

In the scene in TTLG you will notice that Walt is not standing next to anyone or giving any frame of reference as to how much he is grown. He is standing over a pit and the camera angle is from inside the pit. I think they used this angle to downplay his growth. Though he clearly looks older, this angle puts a softer spotlight on the aging actor in regards to his size in the first season...

I agree with you 100%. That is the exact same thing that came to my head.

Smokey

I'd have to agree on this one... I think it's smokey... and I also believe that Smokey can only take on the form of the dead...

I think the story here is why is smokey able to take on the appearance of Walt...

Smokey also took the form of Hurley, Claire, and Aaron back in Fire+Water, remember?

walt was a man! no longer the boy we were introduced to 3 years ago.

i wonder if they'll try to explain that by saying that it was walt from the future and he traveled back in time to help locke.

I agree, and i fear they might fabricate a really poor explanation for his aging, hopefully it ties in with the bigger picture.

Yeh i thought so too, and why would they do this if they had a perfectly good explanation for his rapid growth? Why would they try and make him appear younger?

I tend to think the same thing, Morgan...

If you look at a screen cap of Walt standing over the pit and Ben standing over the pit the backgrounds are completely different. Ben has a forest in the background Walt has a blue sky with clouds.

I'm just guessing smokey. There are so many great theories and possibilities though. I wonder if we'll ever find out!

this doesn't signify anything with the plot. i was told that walt wasn't even filmed at the grave. the shots with locke and the shots with walt were actually filmed on separate days.

I thought smokey only took the form of dead people. I don't remember it taking the form of Hurley, Claire and Aaron from Fire and Water. Please help me out with a thumbnail on what happened on this occasion. Thanks.
