View Full Version : walt cdngurl26 05-24-2007, 03:00 AM so was walt smokey or jacob? EdMuse 05-24-2007, 03:16 AM Or was it really Walt? And was his voice electronically altered to raise the pitch? I'm gonna ask Gregg Nations. DeeEast 05-24-2007, 03:20 AM What I want to know is, if they have only been on the island for 40 days or so, then why does Walt look 3 years older? Unless and of course we are supposed to suspend disbelief for the actor's sake. loserwastaken 05-24-2007, 03:25 AM Or is Jacob smokey? Clochard 05-24-2007, 03:42 AM I'm going with this Walt being Smokey. Why else would he be in a position to tell John that his legs were working just fine, and that he had work to do? rtteachr 05-24-2007, 07:02 AM I don't think it was Walt, it was the island projecting someone that it knew Locke trusted. RodimusBen 05-24-2007, 07:18 AM I believe it was Walt. He is special like Locke, and to see the two of them reunite briefly was magnificent. Flotsam 05-24-2007, 07:23 AM I'm voting for: it was Walt, or a projection of Walt controlled by Walt. Nothing to base this on other than hope. In Season 1 Locke was Walt's mentor. Now the tables have turned. What did Locke teach Walt that Walt can now use to guide Locke? Welcome back, MDK. Missed you, buddy! Kitsume 05-24-2007, 07:41 AM Okay, that definatly was Walt, no matter what you think. Time warp, hallucination, Smokey etc. that was Walt without a doubt, one way or another. Now, let's make believe. My girlfriend pointed out that the telephone Jack had been using in his flashbacks was not available when the losties crashed. She ended up being correct as far as the timeline is concerned. Now, the Walt that appeared before Locke may be in sync with the time line that Jack's flashbacks/forwards have shown. Apparantly a couple of years in the future as far as when they crashed, or our current day. We know now that something is compelling our previously losties to return to the island. Perhaps Walt is having the same instinct to return and is mentally strong enough to reach out to Locke. The one survivor who is in tune to what is really going on. Occono 05-24-2007, 07:45 AM ...I'm thinking it was the island using smokey to project Walt. Perhaps Walt is having the same instinct to return and is mentally strong enough to reach out to Locke. The one survivor who is in tune to what is really going on. That would be the best explanation. I like this theory.... Not to mention the fact the actor himself has grown over the past three years the show has been on the air.... dangerousdirk 05-24-2007, 08:39 AM ...I'm thinking it was the island using smokey to project Walt. I'm voting for "Walt was smokey (or the islands manifestation of Walt, if they're not the same)" Walt wouldn't say something like "but your legs do work Locke" or "you have work to do" 99.9% sure it's the island, and not Walt Colonel Sanders 05-24-2007, 09:03 AM I think it was the real Walt from the "right" timeline...he's definitely a few years older. I don't think the Island would have manifested itself as an "older" Walt....what purpose would that serve? arainvil 05-24-2007, 09:42 AM Here's my little theory on what's going on - "Future" Jack is depressed and a little psycho because calling for rescue on Naomi's phone really did put many of the survivors in danger and possibly killed many of them. However, it does eventually lead to their rescue. Back home Jack realizes the mistake he made and wishes to go back to the island. The funeral he attended is Michael's. Michael, after returning to civilization, went into "hiding" because he didn't want people to know he was a survior and because he killed two people while on the island. This is why an architect's funeral is in a poorer neighborhood and why none of the survivors, including Kate, attended the funeral. Hurley would definetely not have attended Michael's funeral. With Michael dead Jack begins to seek out Walt and his special powers. He will tell Walt everything that happened after he and Michael left the island, admit that Locke was right, and ask Walt to use his powers to change the past. I think Locke is about to make sure the radio tower can't work anymore for a location trace. So in a sense, "future" Jack is leading "future" Walt to lead Locke to lead "present" Jack into correcting the past and thereby his crappy future. What do you think? Colonel Sanders 05-24-2007, 09:50 AM ....So in a sense, "future" Jack is leading "future" Walt to lead Locke to lead "present" Jack into correcting the past and thereby his crappy future. What do you think? I like the idea that future Jack meets up with Walt to try and correct the past.....good idea. lostgurl 05-24-2007, 09:56 AM I think it was really Walt. I doubt Ben ever really let them get very far. I'm glad to have Walt back, no matter what he looks like. I know some people are going to be all freaky about his size, but it's either that or not have him back at all. So either TPTB bring him back and get called dirty ( :censored: ) because MDK has grown, or they keep him off the show and let their entire storyline go unfinished.. and get called dirty ( :censored: ) anyway. rodrigocokting 05-24-2007, 10:00 AM I'm going with this Walt being Smokey. Why else would he be in a position to tell John that his legs were working just fine, and that he had work to do? Weel Walt also knew Locke was going to open the hatch by just talking to him. Lost-I-Am 05-24-2007, 10:31 AM I don't think it was Walt, it was the island projecting someone that it knew Locke trusted. yea i thin kit was great, seeing that locke always said walt had a special connection with the island. Fierro 05-24-2007, 10:42 AM Remember Mrs Klugh's comment about seeing Walt in a place he wasnt supposed to be? This is a very good example. What if he did manage to get off the island somehow and he is projecting himself on the island? It kind of remind me of 'The Shining' Burnt Sienna 05-24-2007, 10:48 AM Smokey all the way. No sounds this time around though. That was different. Eight 05-24-2007, 10:50 AM Well, sticking with my theory that smokey manifests into what the people deserve I will say Walt was really smokey appearing to Locke in order to encourage him further in his mission. BillToons 05-24-2007, 11:12 AM I'd like to think it's really Walt but wouldn't a young guy Walt's age upon the first time he sees his fellow lostie say something about "hey my dad and i just survived our boat, the others gave to escape in, sinking!!!" Or something besides sage advice right off the bat? So this makes me think it's not really Walt. It's some kinda hocus pocus. Also why wouldn't Walt go with Locke to catch up with the losties? You'd think he might want to do that. piscescat 05-24-2007, 11:52 AM Walt's presence was very Yemi-like for me. I believe it was Smokey. That Walt looked older was simply because the young actor has matured. Just a side-effect of having child actors in a story that moves so slowly, time-wise. Nevertheless, and even though it was just a few lines -- it sure was great to see Walt again. I thought the writers/producers said we'd see him this year and I'm glad we did. HeadFirstForHalos 05-24-2007, 01:15 PM What I want to know is, if they have only been on the island for 40 days or so, then why does Walt look 3 years older? Unless and of course we are supposed to suspend disbelief for the actor's sake. :wallbash: Well what are they supposed to do? Give him anti-growth hormones? Freeze him until he's needed for the show? Just go with it for cryin out loud. And I'm leaning towards 'it' being smokey. arainvil 05-25-2007, 08:10 AM Lostpedia just posted a supposed transcript of the newspaper article. It seems to back up my theory from earlier in the thread. Here is the link to that article... (ps - if someone could tell me how to paste text here it would be very helpful) http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Through_the_Looking_Glass wtec 05-26-2007, 12:10 AM Here's my little theory on what's going on - "Future" Jack is depressed and a little psycho because calling for rescue on Naomi's phone really did put many of the survivors in danger and possibly killed many of them. And I'm a little chapped that you beat me to getting that theory on the board. But that's gotta be it. TPTB said Walt's age would be addressed, and that would be a perfect way to address it. Jack had him project himself to the past to get Locke to stop him (Jack) at any cost. Even though it'll mean stranding everybody there. Again. |
