I'm not that familiar with the Lost Experience. But I remember lots of talk about bad scientists. Ben and his team really do seem to be the "good guys" because they are fighting for a cause. Other corporations and or scientists with other agendas probably want this island...and it obviously doesn't turn out too well considering Jack's future state of mind.
