When watching the episode, when Jack uses his cell twice to call what finally is revealed to be Kate, The answering machine repeats a 310 area code. I know that doesn't solve any major ?'s. But 310 is a Santa Monica area code. Thoughts?

Not from CA - how far is that from Los Angeles?? Any of the other Losties from that area?? Where is Juliet from?

According to my area code book.. 310 is an area code for the following major cities in Southern California: Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, West Los Angeles. And Santa Monica.. there's lots of places. There are several pages of cities listed also from 310.. to get a list you'd need to put in the 3 digit prefix and there's zillions of them..

If they would have used a real exchange, and not the fake movie 555 one, youd be able to narrow it down a little more but they didnt, so we cant. I used to work for bellsouth and I still have all that usless info in my head. 310-555 does not exist. but now that ive said that, it probably does.

I live in West L.A., and the 310 area code covers a large area from Malibu, Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica in the northwest, south thru Venice, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey and El Segundo. It also stretches south past LAX into what is known as the South Bay, comprised of the beach cities like Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Torrance. It also spreads inland, or east, through Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Inglewood, and Hawthorne. LAX airport is in El Segundo, in the southwest part of that area, more or less, 8 miles or so south of Santa Monica. To say definitively that Kate is in Santa Monica just from hearing someone dial a 310 prefix is really taking a huge leap. She could literally be just about anywhere in the entire West L.A. or South Bay area. Also, how do we know that Jack didn't call her on her cell? Anyone can have a cell with a 310 prefix, pending availabilty of numbers of course, and then live someplace else.
