I was deeply moved by Jack saying to Kate, "Because I love you.". All the romance angles aside, he truly loves her. He wants her to be happy, no matter where she is, no matter who she is with. I've never seen their bond as being romantic, but I have always felt it was genuine, intense and rare. The sort of bond you are lucky to have with blood relatives, let alone a stranger.

And I'm not much of a Jack fan. Actually, I've always thought he was a bit unstable. But those words were honest, mature ... said with no agenda attached to them. I'm seeing Jack in a different light.

I completely agree. Very well put & thanks for putting exactly what I was feeling into concise words. The overwhelming sense of calm and honesty coming from Jack made me not be able to think clearly... :redface:

I'm happy he was finally able to tell her without being interrupted. He does truly love her and her happiness is what he wants most for her; no hidden agenda. And I liked the way Damon and Carlton wrote it by having Jack tell Kate that Sawyer was protecting her, too before professing his love for her.
