Don't think this has been touched on yet but if it has in another thread I apologize ahead of time so here it goes.....

If you think about this a little more, the finale may make some crazy sense. TPTB said that by the end of the finale, people would understand why the show can't go on past three more seasons. Now consider that and also consider that making Jack and Kate going back to the island would change the whole dynamic of the show. Taking these two points, it finally dawned on me what was going on.

The flash forward is three seasons ahead and it is not as a result of the rescue from Jack's call to Naomi's boat. This will explain why they only showed Jack and Kate and this will explain why Christian is alive. The show will pick up next season, I think, when the boat arrives to the island via the phone call. It will not pick up with Jack and Kate trying to get back to the island.

On another note, I also wouldn't presume that when Kate said, "I have to go, he'll be wondering where I'm at" does not mean she meant Sawyer. You've got a three season gap to fill between Jack's distress call and the flash-forward. It's the biggest twist that I don't think anyone has considered so far. This gives them three more seasons on the island and a lot of room to work with. All we do know is that Jack and Kate do make it off the island three seasons from now.

I think the person in the coffin is someone who tried to get Jack and Kate back to the island, not sure who though of course. Maybe Ben, maybe not.

So, something to chew on and it would be a really smart turn if the above is what TPTB are going for.
