So Locke finally kills her without us getting any of the answers......*sigh*.

Who do you think Naomi is and who does she represent? Ben says shes part of the team trying to search for this island and that once these people find the island, everyone will die

Not to mention, Penny confirmed that Naomi was NOT part of her rescue team.

So Naomi, I'll go with Ben on this one.....

No, Ben doesn't say that once her people find the island that they will kill everyone....he says everyone will die.

One thing that strikes me is that Naomi ran around almost asking Jack what to do when they were on the way to the radio tower. Did not seem very independent did she?

If she really was one of the bad guys I`m sure she would have known exactly what to do herself?

As for Ben, there was genuine fear in his eyes when the call was made.

Either he fears the consequences of a huge amount of people getting off the Island in addition to the rescue team finding the Island thus revealing it.

Or he actually knows that Naomi is one of the bad guys.

This good guy bad guy talk makes me think if Ben, even though seemingly evil, has done some bad actions justifying a higher more important cause?

I suspect Naomi was a well-meaning pawn who was doing her regular job oblivious to the (probably dastardly) intentions of those who hired her.

Don't really know who she is, I suspect Dharma but can I ask if anybody else saw any significance in the fact she stopped Jack mid-trek to instruct him on how to use the phone? I believe she used the words "in case something happens to me". Surely Jack, as the leader of the expedition would be in just as much, if not more danger as Naomi should they encounter any hostility? I thought it was kinda odd but hey, odd is what Lost does best I s'pose :)

I'll throw out the theory that Naomi either had a premonition that something was going to happen to her or that something wasn't going to happen to Jack (Locke's refusal to shoot him) and see if it gets torn to shreds :)

I think they showed that scene because if they didn't people would be asking, "how the hell does Jack know how to use the satphone?"

Good point

Would have made for a cool scene though, Jack fiddling about with the phone, desperately trying to get it to work whilst Locke holds him at gunpoint and just as desperately tries to talk him out of it :)

I think she is somehow employed by Pennys father, who hates Desmond. Why else would she have a picture of Penny and Desmond but to confirm his identity? Also, Pennys father (I forgot his name) is very rich so he would be able to afford the price of the search efforts to find Desmond and possibly get rid of him.

right on! i agree that just because Penny didnt know about the search/resue boat...doesnt mean her father isnt/wasnt in on it... he certainly has the means...

To me it just makes sense. Why else would Naomi have the picture, especially since Penny confirmed there was not boat. Which makes me think that maybe Jack was so screwed up in the future because he had to sacrifice Desmond to the rescuers from the boat, and is now living with that guilt.

I think they showed that scene because if they didn't people would be asking, "how the hell does Jack know how to use the satphone?"

But ultimately that scene was irrelevant in that sense because she already had the phone dialed so that all Jack had to do was pick it up.

Also she hit way more buttons when she made the call than she did when she showed Jack how to use the phone.

Could she be the replacment to push the button?

Aparently the replacments arrive every 540 days, how long had Inman been there before desmond showed up do we know? Or how long has Desmond been on the island do we know that?

Now that would have been funny. Sometimes I wish they showed all those goofy moments instead of making the characters so heroic. I'm not a teenager anymore (I'm 28) and to be honest the McGuyver/Jack Bauer types don't really appeal to me.
I would have liked to see for example Locke trying to crawl out of the DHARMA pit while trying to hold his breath to avoid the awful smell of the rotting bodies.
And then (if we assume the tower was really close to the DHARMA pit) when Locke got there, he wouldn't understand what was going on and he wouldn't know who Naomi was either. The look of surprise on everyone's face (including Locke's and Ben's) would be funny. Wouldn't that be more realistic?

Desmond had been there for 3 years, which is almost 1,000 days. I don't think she could have been the replacement because Inman had said that him and Radzinsky had been waiting for years for someone to show up and no one ever did.

I think these "bad guys" are people who secretly found out about the island and were looking for it.
