Desmond seems to be the one who flip flops through time, first with Penny, getting to do his day over, and now in the chopper with Sayid and not knowing who he is.

Wow, I don't even know! They were in the copter, following the right bearing, but flew into a storm. Then Des has a flash (back? forward? in time?) of being in the army and when he "comes out of it" he doesn't know where he is or who Sayid is!

So will this mean that the flashback Desmond will know all about the island? Or are we just with flashback Des?

He was having a dream that he ws on the helicopter with Sayid - real time. He was supposed to get out of bed, but didn't and the Sgt. asked what happened, he told him he was having a dream that he was in a helicopter and they were heading into the storm. The Sgt. made them go do push ups, they had 4 mins. to get outside.

I dunno if it's time travel. It appears Desmond's conciousness from the time he was at the military has been transmutated into Island Desmond, and Desmond at the military has the conciousness/memories of Island Desmond. It's wierd, to be sure. Seems as time goes on the show the sci-fi elements are emerging with fuller force.

It's Flashback Ed but it seems as if Des doesn't relize he's seeing this from the future

They are not flashbacks...he was flipping from one reality to another because the chopper was bearing off course a little, messing with the time/space continuum.

What did he say about Fiji?That was the last place they "ported," put into port. He said they're in the Pacific. So much for the Sunda Trench.

This episode is pretty damn cool. Wonder if they're setting up a causal loop. ie Desmond in the past ends up where he is now because of a phone call from the future... That he brought back to his mind in the past...

Daniel has just become a new "hero" of this series. Not up with Jack and Co. but he's major. Wonder how long the writers have been working up to him. And when they decided on this amazing storyline. It may take the rest of the series to resolve Des' journey. And Sayid's.

I think Penny was trying to "call" the Island, specifically. If the freighter hadn't intercepted it, it would have been blocked by the Looking Glass anyway. Remember Charlie ends up receiving one of her calls before he dies.

I'm not kidding. Tripping and altered states lead to this sort of thinking. Time travel is one of the most fascinating theoretical topics of all time. What if it happens frequently and we never know it. Infinite reality threads... the mind reels. This is going to have the threaded board smoking for the next 24 houra, n'est ce pas?
