Hmmmm, stomping around in here in my big boots, all alone.

It ws an interesting episode, but can't say I either loved or hated it. We are getting so much new information, each new episode is kind of like a mini core dump. We can put some things together, but for the most part, it's just disconnected information.......

I'm assuming sometime in the future we will have enough information to start putting these pieces together.

Yeah, we're getting puzzle pieces thrown at us, one by one. Luckily I'm a sucker for mysteries!

So ... apparently Ben has been around (or that's a fake passport and funny money) and Sayid's a reluctant recruit? Or, knowing Sayid he must have some plan in motion. Maybe counterintelligence?? Maybe he's met Ben's man on the boat? Gah!! This off-island stuff baffles me. I gotta keep watching.

Sayid definitely seemed more like a reluctant recruit, not like a volunteer. And he did say something like (paraphrasing) "that's what you used against me to recruit me", when Ben mentioned the last time Sayid thought with his heart and not with his gun. So something is going to happen which will guilt-trip him into working for Ben.

And that reveal about the secret room...interesting indeed. So many passports and identities, New Zealand, Brasil and Switzerland being the ones I recognized.
And if we don't go into the time-discrepancy discussions here and assume that it's really December 2004 on the island, Ben has been off the island recently - or somebody else was. There's a whole bunch of Euro in that one drawer, and it the Euro was only introduced as a currency in Jan. 2002.
But then again we've seen Richard off island, so maybe the money was just Ben's stash for all kinds of operations off island, not necessarily his own. Though I'd assume the passports were all his.

But what I found most interesting was Ben posting as a veterinarian. Lol, can you imagine your kitty being sick and your vet turned out to be...him? I guess he has to see patients to keep up the disguise. And where did he learn the necessary medical skills, anyway?
An interesting episode, but it posed more questions than it actually answered.

Everything you mentioned was interesting to me too Kerstin, I loved the Ben reveal at the end, but it leads to a million other questions....why is Sayid working for Ben...is Ben permanantly off island or is he using his magic box/closet to go where he is needed. SURELY his base of operations is not a vet hospital in Berlin;) .

I'm not complaining, I liked the episode, just lots of new stuff tossed and none of it connects to anything else. Freezer said it well--puzzle pieces tossed at us:biggrin:

Didn't love it. Didn't hate it. The eppy actually seemed slower than the last two(maybe the time thing lol). Maybe it's just the Sayid eppy's or something -- they always seem that way. I like Sayid just fine(he looked pretty good all cleaned up) but his eppy's no matter what they seem to reveal come across as lackluster to me - I just don't know what it is. But it wasn't a bad eppy. A good reveal with Ben at the end -- kinda makes you wonder if Sayid left the island as one of the oceanic six as a cover for the purpose of hunting down and killing those on the list.

Also opened up the question as to whether Ben left the island or is traveling back and forth like Richard did to recruit Juliette. Liked the fact that Ben looked like he was working in a vet clinic -- reminded me of Dharma. Can't forget the 31 minutes with Dan's test -- great reveal. But nevertheless compared to the first two eppy's of the season it dragged somewhat so I guess I'm neutral on this one.

You are right, that the episode seemed slower. But I belive that it was packed full of clues, not excitement. My brain is still spinning and I have not removed myself from this computer today. I LOVE the research!!! It is so amazing that the things we discussed way back in the first season just as speculation is now being realized. Just not in the EXACT way we thought.

I love the twists and turns that Lost has taken. It feels like a rollercoaster ride. And I want to be in the first seat!!

I was greatly intruiged by this episode and have been riveted from the start but in past episodes it has always seemed there was a degree of levity to counterbalance the gravity. So far this series it has been relentlessly bleak.

This episode had so many good bits, Ben's secret closet, Sayid's role as hitman, Miles' face in the barracks when they talk about wiping them out.....very mind bending stuff being hurled left right and centre. The most Lost I've felt since the very opening episode.

I agree it was a more downer epi but there was a high point for levity. How about Hurley's comment after Miles calls him(Hurley) Tubby...... "Oh awesome, the boat sent us another Sawyer.."
Cracked me up , great line, still get a giggle when I think back on that.

The beginning of this episode threw me a little bit. For awhile I forgot they were doing flash forwards instead of flashbacks. I was just enjoying seeing Sayid relax for a change. But then Oceanic came up and then the gun. And the sprinklers all came on like Caddy Shack. At that point I thought maybe Sayid was working on his own agenda. Shooting a man seemed somewhat more humane than torturing them, and he had done plenty of that already. I was disappointed to find Ben pulling the strings in the end. It reminded me too much of Michael. The producers might be foreshadowing Michael's return this way.

Something that bothered me was Desmond showing up in time to hop a ride to the boat. Both he and Sayid know that this is not "Penny's" boat. They each have guns, but how much good could they do on a freighter in the middle of the ocean?

Jack (or Sayid, i forget) found the photo of Des and Penny in Naomi's things. He sent Juliet to fetch him from the beach so they could find out if there was some sort of connection or explanation. They were waiting for him to get there. There seems to be more of a connection between Sayid and Naomi, I think.
