I know there is a thread about the hallucination in the station but this is just some interesting observations and questions about the scene in general.
First of all, The detective asks twice "who did you see"?
How does he know that it was a "who" that startled him?
I thought maybe he saw the numbers on something at first.
2nd, The detective asks in regards to Anna Lucia.
"Maybe you knew her"?
"Maybe met her on the plane"?
"Before it took off"?
The flight was @ 6 hours and consider 2 hours pre-flight. Thats a short time to "know" someone. Weird how the detective asked if he "knew" her. Notice how he doesn't say,
"how about after the crash"?
Geez, what does the outside world think happened to them?
3rd, The station seemed so similar in lighting and color to the Hydra hatch. Also the loud speaker and the questioning going on. The cart with the TV/VCR.
Then the water rushing in and banging on the window was similar to the Looking Glass station. hmmmmm, even the word STATION.

I think the cops intense questions about AL could very well be chalked up to someone who still wants to hold on to the hope that someone they care about is alive.

True, I'm sure he does care about her well being, no doubt his emotions are real.
However, I think he smells a cover up too. Obviously something extraordinary took place that allowed Hurley to co-exist again TODAY, part of it being, living a lie. The story the press must have released is so unbelievable to some I'm sure. There must be people out there (like Sam from find815), that want further answers and swear it's a conspiracy.

Probably way off, but in the store surveillence video that shows Hurley freaking out, there is a guy behind Hurley with a short haircut and receeding hairline that looks vaguely like one of the new freighters we see in next week's preview. Could it be?
-----
I assumed Hurley saw the numbers which made him run...but from the cops perspective...it would make more sense that Hurley was running away from someONE....not someTHING.
It did have the "Hydra" station feel about it....completely forgot about the VCR cart. Nice spot!
The cop did seem a little suspicious that Hugo wouldn't have remembered at least seeing Ana on the plane...or preflight. He seemed to smell a conspiracy...or at the very least suspected Hugo of withholding information.
As for Ana Lucia...and Hurley lying about having never met her. He's not allowed to go "off script"...and the "official" script says...only SIX people survived the crash...the plane sank...and there were NO other survivors. Do not talk to ANYONE about what really went down on the island. You made no friends....you're happy to be alive...and that's that.
It's all part of the condition of the Oceanic 6's release back to civilization. The first rule of getting to leave Craphole Island is: You DON'T talk about Craphole Island...
I think you know what the second rule is.
Now...who gave them these rules/script...and who's "enforcing" the rules remains to be seen...although the creepy Oceanic "lawyer" who visited Hurley in the nut house may be a first taste....offering Hugo a nice "oceanview room"? Was he threatening poor Hurley with a trip BACK to Craphole Island?
Also the nice easter egg on Charlie's hand as he swam up and placed it on the glass...right before it broke...instead of "Not Penny's Boat"...his hand read "They Need You"...foreshadowing he and Charlie's talk on the nut house lawn.

Did anyone see Charlie in the water?

I just noticed this conversation myself. The detective doesn't even mention the word "island". It seems like he thinks that if there were any possibility of Hurley knowing Ana-Lucia, the only time it possibly could have happened was before the flight. But suppose the outside world believes that only these 6 survived the crash. Where have they been for the last 90 days?
