I think it is very significant. But, then I've always thought that Time was significant on the show. Not necessarily time travel, somewhere where more than one time is available, or more than one time exists.

Absolutely significant. I was just writing that I saw this episode as Desmond's "re-start": are we midway through the series now? And now travelling back through the future to the beginning? Maybe like a backgammon game! Back to the Adam and Eve of the first few episodes in Season 1?

I'm still confused, but the symmetry of Desmond's "gift" is significant, I think, in terms of the show's general movement. We've turned some kind of a corner in this episode, not just in terms of time, but in terms of plot.

I don't think Penelope is the only Constant - I think the Penelope/Desmond story is also the Lost fans' constant in terms of where we've been and where we're going!

Not this episode, Eggtown. When that episode opened the same as the original pilot, except it was Locke's eye opening, not Jack's. That's when the shift occured. IMHBAO.
