As I was watching last night I kept trying to figure out how they are going to get back to the island. Then it hit me- Penny. Penny knows about the island, knows Desmond and others survived, and she might know the coordinates of the island. She also has the funds to go to the island.

Any thoughts?

Plausible. Hurley saw her picture and at least knows of her.

According to what has been revealed in any and all episodes,
how much more info does Hurley know about Penny besides
what she looks like?!

Maybe Charlie will be his spiritual leader if this is the case.
After all he did have a brief conversation with her.

Possible that Charlie could lead him to her.
Don't forget Charlies final message "Not Penny's boat."

Hurley knows about it, and I would assume the other beach people know about the message. I would also assume Desmond would have explained who Penny was.

If Desmond didn't come off the island. Penelope would try to reach out to the Oceanic 6 to get more information. She is dedicated to reuniting with Edmond.

Who all saw the picture that was in Naomi's book? Was Hurly there? Anyone who saw the picture, I would think knows the story about Penny and Desmond.

I wonder what Penny knows.
After all this time, why does she even think ?Desmond is still alive?

But the weird thing we know from flash forwards is that Jack wants desperately to get back, yet he seems to think that the only way to do that is to hang out on Oceanic flights until another plane crashes, as if the island is some sort of "Brigadoon"-esque place that you can't get to by regular means. This would make sense in light of some of the clues we have had throughout the series (a wrinkle in time, I know where north should be, etc.).

Maybe you can't get there by regular means. Why did they have to tranquilize Juliet and strap her down in the sub, for instance?

Something is very odd (to say the least!) about getting to that island. Understatement of the century *lol*!

So she could not figure out the location of the island.

Maybe Penny was in the coffin and that is why Jack is depressed about it. But then again, I would assume she'd have some family around to come to the funeral

Could be Michael (or Walt) will approach one of the Oceanic 6 (they may even be part of the Oceanic 6) and tell them that he knows how to get back. If he followed the bearing of 325, then maybe he can find the way back by going in the exact opposite direction.

I'm not a sailor, but the bearing of 325 just 10 degrees North of due Northwest, so they would have to go 10 degrees South of due Southeast, which would be a bearing of 145 from a fixed point that Michael would maybe be able to identify from where he "received rescue". Are all the numbers correct? Someone let me know if I've messed up anywhere.

Matthew Abbadon is how they are gonna go back to the Island. He is the FERRYMAN.

I'm started to feel that he IS, in a certain way, the island itself. Or at least, a little bit of the island being manifested in the real world.

This also brought me memories of the sickness. Could the sickness be 'pieces' of the island that people take with them when they leave?
This sickness may cause hallucinations that make the person want to go back. It is like a 'drug'. Once you realized that, You are an Island-addict. You CAN"T live anywhere else BUT on the island. Jack touched bottom and that is why he is (will be) so desperate to find the island back.

Penny was not in the coffin. It was a man, and why would Jack and Kate have any reason to hate her?

As for Michael helping to get back to the island, that seems plausible. Actually, now that I think about it, the real link to getting back to the island could be Walt.

I think everyone in the beach camp found out about Desmond and Penny when Naomi landed and came back to camp with Hurley, Charlie and Desmond.
in answer to your other question in the Looking Glass Hatch Charlie told Penny that Desmond was with him and that he was brilliant. She know knows that he is still alive. I think this will make her more determined to find him

I wonder if they all have to go back together to get back. In other words, if Jack and Hurley want to get back, they can't do it alone, all 6 have to go back together. I have no idea how or why that would be, but then this is Lost.

You guys just made me think
Could Mathew Abaddon,the guy who
visited Hurley be working for Penny?
He is trying to find out if Des is still alive!
Penny knows Charlie was a surivor of 815
and Des was with him

Also,You All Everybody

do our Friendly nieghborhood
Numb3rs have any connection to chess,
could getting "back" have something
to do with a chess move and Teh Numb3rs?
A Backwards move possibly?
Just throwing out a LOST thought....

I don't think he works for Penny. If he did why not use her name? He seemed to spooky to be working for Penny.

But IS anyone what they seem on LOST?
I just feel that maybe, something happened
and maybe he can't say he works for her
maybe he has to approach The 6 in a
secretive way......
We don't know, yet if something they signed
or a deal they made changed contact
with the off island world
and it was only 2 cents worth of thought

I still think he would have used Penny's name instead of terrifying Hurley. I think he works for Dharma or whoever the boat people are.
