View Full Version : The game of Horse had Clues!!
knoxvillevolntr 02-01-2008, 10:06 AM Jack said "you never miss", apparently Hurley's luck turned around. Conversely, Jack continually missed the TARGET. He appaently switched places in other ways with Hurley and is now having very bad luck. In life, etc. Not sure about the other connections. One other thing I noticed. The guy who came to see Hurley wanted to make sure he could keep Hurley beholden to him, by "upgrading him" to a better psych facility- wonder where they might know about a psych facility with a view of the ocean??????? HMMMMMMMMMMMMM........
wanders01 02-01-2008, 10:14 AM I got the feeling that Abbadon wanted to get Hurley to a hospital where they could grill him to get the truth. They know the six are hiding information and having Hurley in their facility they could control the drugs in hopes of getting the truth. I can't see any material gifts to the 6 keeping their silence for anything less then saving the people left behind.
knoxvillevolntr 02-03-2008, 03:07 PM Thats a good point. I just wonder what kind of techniques they would use.. something similar to what they used to break french woman's daughter's boyfriend? (sry forgot thir names).....

Hmmm, maybe Matthew is the key BACK to the island!
Eight 02-03-2008, 03:12 PM I thought Jack said, "You ever miss Hurley?" And I've been reading that kind of like "You ever miss the island Hurley?" But yeah I agree the game had clues.
As for "upgrading Hurley" I felt as though he were going to a secluded place where people don't ever leave and not with a view of the ocean. I think he would have been tortured to death for the information he has, never to be seen again.
wanders01 02-03-2008, 03:14 PM I had another thought..........Jack stating "you never miss" must mean he has visited Hurley before at the gym. There wasn't basketball court on the island was there?

It would appear Jack and Hurley have spent some more time together between TBOTE and Hurley's flash forward. Not only do they seem like they've played HORSE or basketball together before, but Jack knew it was Hurley driving the Camaro. When the news reporter said it was a vintage 1970's Camaro, Jack said "Damn it" as if he knew he was driving it. I don't remember anytime that Hurley shared that Camaro information with anyone. So when did Jack find that out?
rtteachr 02-03-2008, 04:04 PM Nice catch. Maybe the room with the view is on the island!:eek2:

was that the car Hurley was working on with his Dad way back when??
Bawstngrl
toddintexas 02-03-2008, 04:17 PM was that the car Hurley was working on with his Dad way back when??
That's what my thinking was. Back in the Flashback when we see Hurley's dad come back and try to talk him out of going to Australia, I'm pretty sure his father mentioned something about working on the car when Hurley came back. Obviously someone did to get the car running.

Yes, I agree. And I assume they have off-camera conversations...
toddintexas 02-03-2008, 04:25 PM Yes, I agree. And I assume they have off-camera conversations...
Well, I'm sure they do have off camera converstations, but this would have been a pretty big fact for Hurley to drop, so I think the writers would have Hurley tell this on camera. Plus, Jack wasn't the closest to Hurley, Charlie was, and he never told Charlie, that we know of. And Charlie was one of the ones helping with the Dharma van when we saw Hurley have the Camaro flashback and he didn't bother mentioning it then.
I don't think they would go from Hurley never mentioning the Camaro to Jack knowing about the Camaro by way of an off camera conversation.
theorygirl 02-03-2008, 04:30 PM Did anyone else think a clue could be when Hurley told Jack "Your up" while playing horse? (Europe?)
redsonsuperman 02-03-2008, 04:38 PM One thing seems certain, the guy who visited Hurley doesn't work for Oceanic. Because Jack has no qualms with taking flights every weekend.
Wonder why none of the other companies bought the airline? That'd be one way to cover things up...

Either way, makes no difference to me. I was mostly agreeing with you (they spend a lot of time together and they have off-camera conversations).
toddintexas 02-03-2008, 04:42 PM Anyone see that there appears to be something behind the backboard druring the game? Dark has it up on his screencaps, and when I've rewatched the episode, you can definitely see movement.
Sorry number, didn't mean to come off as a bully!
onelittlenumber 02-03-2008, 08:36 PM No problem at all. :flower:

I noticed the same things! To me, both were absolutely meant to be clues that Jack and Hurley have spent significant time together post-island. Which leads us to wonder why they stopped?
Although... Hurley apparently hadn't apologized for going with Locke until that point, which makes it seems like maybe this was his first opportunity to do so. However, his reaction upon seeing Jack made it clear that it hadn't been that long since they'd last seen each other.

I think Hurley only apologized now because he just started seeing Charlie. Once he started seeing Charlie, his doubts about what happened on the island probably began rising to the surface.
Heroic Poser 02-03-2008, 09:40 PM I think enough time has passed where Jack and Hurley talked a lot since they came back.
I mean, who's to say Jack didn't help Hurley FIX the car?
And no, I don't think "You're up." was actually "Europe". To me, that goes along with people (oh, myself included definately) arguing countless hours about the look Jack gave Sawyer and Kate right before the bags went over their heads, only to see it was nothing but a look. There are clues, but I'm gonna stop analyzing everything to death and go with the flow, man. Go with the flow. But to each his own. Don't let me stop you. Just my 2 cents.
Also, I think since Jack had obviously played with Hurley before, maybe it was Jack who helped him into his "new place".
Also, what's the deal with Hurley's friend seeing Charlie also?
Bella 02-03-2008, 09:59 PM I think Hurley only apologized now because he just started seeing Charlie. Once he started seeing Charlie, his doubts about what happened on the island probably began rising to the surface.
But if that's true, then surely there was some sort of funky tension between the two up until that point. And if so, then are we to assume they spent a lot of time together in spite of that tension?
toddintexas 02-03-2008, 10:18 PM I'm not sure there really would be that much tension, Jack didn't seem to be too put off by it, in this FF anyway (he might have felt differently if Hurley saved the apology until the TTLG FF). They already had alot of things in common because of the 815 crash and being one of the few to leave the island and share some big secret, so they share a pretty tight bond. It's not like Hurley was the one Sarah cheated on Jack with.;)
bjrnet 02-03-2008, 10:22 PM I don't think this thread has mentioned this yet... but, yes, the HORSE game had a BIG clue. That clue was the fact that they only spelled out the letters "HO".
Check the http://thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=87153 thread for more information.
It is VERY apparent that HO is a big clue in this episode!
Check out the following HO and Arctic location ideas / possibilities:
1) The letters that are spelled on the "blocks" behind Hurley are HO when he is talking to Abbadon
2) Hurley said he saw Charlie materialize by the HO-HOs
3) HO = 8 and 15 = 815
4) HO HO HO = Santa Claus = North Pole
5) Hurley is drawing a picture of an Eskimo by an igloo = North Pole / Arctic possibility
6) Polar bears, penguins with sunburns, two snowmen, Kelvin (which means absolute zero cold), the guys listening for Penny, the Others on the boat dressed in cold weather gear..
7) Santa Rosa = Santa Claus ??
8) Submarine required to get under the ICE to get to the island ??
9) Inscription on Mr. Eko's stick? "Lift up your eyes and look north"!
Very good possibility that the island is at the North Pole or in an area in the Arctic Sea.
toddintexas 02-03-2008, 10:29 PM Yeah, I'm familiar with the HO connection and of the Ho, Ho, Ho thread. Not too keen on the idea of the island being at the North Pole, too many unexplained things and I think the average viewer would find that explanation too far fetched. Plus, penguins aren't in the North Pole/Arctic, but only in the South Pole/Antarctic.

I didn't note the name while viewing the show but it sure caught my attention when I read it in your post.
Abbadon is the Angel of the Abyss.

I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this. A picture of an island?

Yeah, I was going to post about this, too. I saw what you're talking about right away when I was watching the episode the first time. My feeling is that it can be one of two things: 1) It is the head of someone who was on the production crew who accidently got photographed during the shoot. 2) It is there as a clue.
If it is the second thing - a clue - then it begs the question, what is the clue? It really looked to me like it was the head of someone hiding behind the basketball backboard who popped out for a second. If this is the case, could it have been someone spying on Jack and Hurley's conversation? If so, was it the same fellow who visited Hurley earlier? It appears to be someone with a dark complexion, and that would strengthen that theory. Ideas?

If it was a production mistake, they would definitely have seen it during editing, since viewers like yourself picked up on it during the original airing. Now whether or not gthey would remove it is the question. Could they have kept it in there as a red herring knowing we fans would obsess over it?;)
If it is a clue, someone is probably listening in, seeing if they "tell" or possibly to see if they discuss the island and whether "they're alive" or not.

There've been production mistakes before on Lost. One of them could have led to some bit of embarrasment involving some papers on the front seat of the VW van that refered to someone who was a real person that has no connection with Lost. Until Damon or someone else of his caliber comes out and says for sure, all we can do is guess whether it was a mistake or not. Seeing as how it was a very wide shot encompassing a large area, I could see how it would have been easy for someone on the production crew to have been caught up there and accidently popped their head out for a second, not realizing they were in the shot. On the other hand, maybe it is a clue...
