Any ideas about the connection between the Others' list at the end of S2 and the Oceanic Six?

That really depends on what list you're referring to.
Ben asked Goodwin and Ethan to make lists (I think of the survivors) when he sent them to the crash sites.
Then there is the famous "Jacob's list" Tom mentioned. I don't quite see a possible connection of that to the Oceanic6 because according to Tom, Jack wasn't on that list, yet he is one of the Oceanic 6.
The same goes for the list Locke mentions to Kate towards the end of season 3 when he's leaving Othersville with the others. At least I think he mentions a list when he tells Kate he pleaded her case but she has to stay behind because she's not a good person (paraphrasing here). Kate isn't on that list, either, yet she's also one of the Oceanic 6.
So far, I don't see any connection at all, but maybe I missed some other lists being mentioned ;-)

I think what he/she is referring to, is the 4 that the others bring with them to the docks?

That's a very good point. Makes sense to me. This could be why they want to go back. Maybe something really great happens on the island and the O6 are not allowed to be a part of it because they were not on Jacobs list. Hmmmm?

Hurley almost missed the flight because of some mysterious power thing in his hotel room, his car broke down on the way to the airport, the ticket agent said "maybe you're not supposed to be on this flight", and the gate agent almost didn't let him board..

I'm totally on board with the idea that the O6 are those who weren't on Jacob's List.
