I thought the same... Could Randy be the guy who's playing "connect-4" with Hurley at Santa Rosa, or am I tripping?

That was Randy? I guess I'll have to watch it again. I figured his scene got cut.

Harold Perrineau was in the credits, too, but alas no Michael

Harold was in the credits because (presumably) he will return as a regular to the show.

I thought it looked like Randy videotaping Hurley's car crash. But that doesn't make sense on a number of levels. Why wouldn't Randy have yelled out "Hugo!" as Hurley was getting arrested? Perhaps there was more to the scene that got cut for time. It's a shame because Randy Nations is so hot.

At first watch I thought it was Randy, but it never panned out.
Gonna watch again to confirm. Doesn't make sense (like a lot of things).
100%
So I watched it again and I'm undecided.

But what's interesting is that the camera seems to follow
the officer to the left, but as soon as the guy with the camcorder
comes into view, the camera (our perspective on TV), seems to
go back to the right for a second, back to the man with the camcorder.

Almost as if, what we were seeing on TV was in the perspective of a
witness at the scene and thought they recognized or saw something.

Weird!

Yeah, you are totally right. He was on the press release. Maybe his scene got cut?

He was the guy Hurley (thought he) saw telling him "that guy over there is staring at you".

I saw on Lostpedia that he was the guy that was video taping after Hurley's car crashed. I couldn't tell though.

The next time I watch I'll keep watch for him. Lost-Media doesn't have comprehensive caps. They have none of the opening scene, and none of the guy that tells Hurley about Charlie.

when I saw the guy vidoe tapping, for some reason I thought it was Randy but wasn't totally sure and then I just forgot about it or actually didn't care

I can't remember exactly where it was, but I dont think Randy was the guy that told hurley that the guy was staring at him. It might have been him, but I specifically remember seeing a guy and thinking "wow, that looks like Randy from the Chicken Shack"

Yeah, that was him.

I definitely thought the guy videotaping was Randy.

He also kind of looked like one of the guys from that show The Office - B.J. Novak.

But I'm pretty sure it was him filming, which would make sense, since he and Hurley seem to be forever intertwined with each others current situations (other than the Island).

He is working at the car dealership place hurley crashes into at the end of the chase, he is outside behind some of the cops filiming the event.

Since he was last working at the box company, and if youve followed the find815 game, there is a part where the guy gets a voicemall about his buddy's friend randy whose box company burnt down. i guess this is where he ended up working next.

They didn't show him for very long, but I recognized him right away. He shows up in the oddest places.

I doubt that it is a big deal, but did anyone else notice that Randy was the person with the camcorder at the end of the chase scene?

I like how he keeps popping up.

I totally missed that. Are you sure it was him? How did he just happen to pop up when there's a manhunt on Hurley?

Who's Randy?

Dont remember a 'Randy' ever being a key person in Lost.

He's not a key player, but he was Hurley's boss at the Chicken Shack and then Locke's boss at the box place.

He's like a Greek chorus (http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=functions%20of%20the%20greek%20choru s).

Randy Nations is a middle management boss for whom both Hurley and Locke have worked.

While managing Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack, Randy reprimanded Hurley for eating an 8-piece dark meat chicken combo without paying and giving more than two napkins per client. Hurley and Johnny then quit and, later that night, vandalized Randy's property by spelling out "CLUCK YOU" on his lawn with garden gnomes. ("Everybody Hates Hugo")

At an unspecified point in time, Mr. Cluck's closed down, and then was bought and reopened by Hurley, using the money from his lottery winnings. He hired back Randy to work there, but the day before the grand opening, the building was hit by a meteorite and completely destroyed. ("Tricia Tanaka Is Dead")

A short time later, Randy took a job at Hurley's box company in Tustin, California working as Locke's boss. He taunted and belittled Locke, questioning him about Helen and whether he was really a Colonel, and telling him he wouldn't be able to go on a walkabout due to his condition and lack of destiny. ("Walkabout")

Randy filming Hurley's car crash.

After the Oceanic 6 returned to the mainland, Randy is seen video taping the end of Hurley's car chase with a hand-held video camera.("The Beginning of the End")

That's so cool! I didn't even notice that!!

I wonder if that tape of Hurley screaming that he was one of the O6 will come back into play?

ok, so someone was video taping Hurley being grabbed by the cops....remember way back when someone...i think a little girl in Korea...was watching TV and it was Hurley being grabbed by the cops on TV? that had something to do with Jin, but what are the odds Hurley was videotaped being grabbed by cops twice?

He was on television because he won the lottery. No police in that scene.

i could have sworn there were cops.....Jin is going to the apartment to rough the guy up and the little girl is watching TV. i'll have to look into which one it was. i thought at the time it was explaining how he ended up in the asylum the first time.

i've watched that scene again and again, and i can't see
how you think that it's Randy holding the camcorder.
to me it looks like a random guy in the street.

Flotsam

It was Randy holding a camcorder. Billy Ray Gallion is fairly distinctive, even with a camcorder in front of his face, and even if he's only on-screen for a split-second. (Distinctive to me, anyway.) Also, Billy Ray Gallion's name was in the opening credits, so I was eager to see him.

He appeared to be working at the electronics store Hurley crashed outside of.

It would seem that Randy was in shock to see Hurley as the chase perpetrator, which would explain why Randy didn't yell "Hurley!!"
