Did I miss something where everyone said they would meet at the cockpit, because isn't it a little weird that the group from the beach, the group from the radio tower, the group of Jack/Rousseau/Ben, the group of Locke/Hurley and also Kate all just each happen to end up there? The island is huge, why would they all just happen to come across this. Please clear this up for me, maybe I missed something even though I'm about to watch the episode for a third time.

No clue... and why is the cockpit sitting differently than when they left it?
And how is it that the cockpit is so close (presumably) to Jacob's cabin?

...and why does it gives Jack fond memories of Charlie, instead of nightmares about a pilot mysteriously getting sucked through the windshield and finding his partially skinned carcass flung in the canopy.

The cockpit most likely is sitting differently because a) the production team had to rebuild part of it to put it back in place, and b) it's been "sitting" there for what? 91 day now?
Also, I don't think it's near Jacob's cabin, as I don't really think that's where the cabin "is".

Well I think they did leave it like that, it was propped up at first but then it fell down. Also Im not sure, I have the feeling Jacobs cabin maybe can appear anywhere??

As to how they all found their way there . . . the group that "Moses" was leading to the radio tower would have made a trail a hundred feet wide. The route between the two locations was probably more like a highway at that point.
Locke found the meeting point because he was tracking.
The cockpit fell as Jack, Kate and Charlie were fleeing from the monster in Season 1.
But yes, it was a creepy reminder.
