I still think the Pilot episode is the show's best, but all of the premieres have been decent. I would rank them:

1. Pilot
2. Man of Science, Man of Faith
3. The Beginning of the End
4. A Tale of Two Cities

That is really tough call. The Pilot is..well, the Pilot. :) S2 and S3 both had such brilliant (can I say) mindfucks. But S4 has started off with such an interesting dynamic in the group and with this compelling danger off the coast...it's really hard to pick a favorite.

Yeah, same order for me. The pilot just wins cause its awesome, and well its, the pilot. But the season 4 premiere is a close second. The beginnings of the season 2 and 3 premiere were amazing scenes, but the remainders of both episodes were just okay. The season 4 premiere had tons of great moments throughout the whole episode, and it only got better as it went on.

Waa, great question, and such a tough call. Can I just ditto everything NotAnOther said? Same reasonings, for sure. I'm not really a Jackback kind of girl, so his FB parts of MoSMoF and AToTC were not as good for me as the island parts. TBoTE was much more balanced throughout the ep.

And nothing competes with the pilot.

I loved A Tale Of Two Cities (of course I didn't know what was to come next :drowsy: ), I'd rank it second after MOSMOF. I have a hard time thinking of the Pilot as a season premiere. No other episode can compete with it because we went into it knowing nothing and learned everything from that episode, whereas the other ones are beginnings of individual chapters.

Man Of Science Man Of Faith it is. I always watch it followed by Orientation and it's still incredibly well acted, intense and gives me that special L O S T feeling.

The Pilot was best to me. But "Man of Science Man of Faith" would have to be my second choice because of the way it started with Desmond in the hatch, the music - "Make your own kind of music" and him going through his routine. It was just GREAT!

This one - Beginning of the End - started off with a *THUD* for me.

The pilot was amazing, but I have to give it to season 2. "What's in the hatch" was THE question everyone was asking that entire summer, and once they came back their biggest cliffhanger was resolved immediately, in the most clever way possible.

Definitely Season 2 with Season 3 being a close second. How can you not love the opening where we first meet Desmond? I remember thinking "Who the heck is this guy and why are they showing him?" I had no idea that he was in the hatch!

In all fairness if I had watched the pilot episode before any other episodes I probably would have ranked it number one. I started watching about the 5th episode of the DVD's (my bf was in the middle of watching it and I got hooked).

#4: Season 4 (I just wasn't blown away by this as I was the others).

Season 2 had the best start to anything I've ever seen, including any movies. It was exhilarating, confusing, mind-bending, tense....and a thousand other things. Brilliant.

I would rank the pilot third. It may be that I started watching the show late, and so had expectations that weren't met going into the series, but I would definately rank "Man of Science..." first. The pilot was obviously enought to get me hooked on the show, but season two was so good it got me hooked enough that I had to talk about it online.


PS "The Beginning of the end" is a close second. Go Hurley!

I still watch the Pilot (both parts) because I have always enjoyed the genesis of how ideas and stories begin.

Next is the second season premiere because we had to wait for so long to see what was in the hatch.

Third season ... hmmm. no comment.

Forth season ... well, it was different.

The pilot was brilliant, no doubt about it. But for me as a German who got to see the two-hour version of the first two episodes together, I always saw it as a seaparate entity, not as a season opener.
The favourite and most intriguing season opener is season 2 "Man of Science, Man of Faith".
After one season of seeing our guys stranded on the deserted island, and Locke struggling with the mysterious hatch, suddenly we get Desmond thrown into our faces. I am sure my eyes bugged out of my head when I realized that he was actually living in the hatch.
And the rest of the episode was also brilliant, so that was my vote.

It's definitely the pilot for me. Jack waking up in a bamboo grove flat on his back in a suit and tie was all I needed to get sucked in.

Loved the Pilot. Very cool. But nothing beats "Man of Science, Man of Faith." Not only is it the best premiere for me, it's my favorite episode of the whole series. My journey was this: I watched the Pilot and thought the show was cool. Around "Raised by Another" I was hooked. Around "Deus Ex Machina" I was obsessed, and then MOSMOF came and I just had to start coming online and became a Lost Freak. I mean, Desmond at the stadium and then in the hatch? Come on! What kind of show is this?

I still think is episode is television magic. While the s4 premier was entertaining, it loses point for being rather safe and less ambitious than the previous prems.

Well I don't think the Pilot should count cos it's like one of the best episode in the history of Lost. It's where everything began.

Everyone is saying how awesome the S2 premiere was, but I think that the only highlight of the episode was the very first scene. It was fantastic. But the rest of the episode was moving quite slow IMO.
The premiere of the 3rd Season was great as well, but again, the opener was the highlight of the episode and the rest was just... good.
The Beginning of the End however, was a very exciting episode the whole way. While it didn't have as good an opening as the other season premieres, the episode its self was awesome, and brought everything/everyone together for the season. For me Season 4 had the perfect opener. I think that's the way to launch a series.

I'm still voting for the Pilot, though, because that's where everything started, and it was pretty d*mn awesome. :)

Well it doesnt seem to be the most popular but i loved ' Tale of two cities' the music, the who is that woman ? ( juliet ) then to see the plane crash from the 'others' point of view was fab!
Season 4 premiere didnt do much 4 me at all :undecide:

I have to go with S3's opening. It was great going back to the day that the plane crashed. And to really know who these 'Other's where that Rousseau kept going on about.
