View Full Version : It's nearly christmas on the island
crandal87 02-03-2008, 09:34 AM Apparently the first episode of season 4 is set on the 23rd Dec 2004 which means it is almost christmas for the losties. Just wondering if anyone knows if there will be any mention. Surely someone on the island (Rose maybe) will be aware of the date. If not the boaties will be.
haha! interesting but I think everybody is too worked up... but good thinking ;)
drtyfrnk 02-04-2008, 12:29 AM Maybe that's why there was 3 Ho ho ho's in the last episode :)
Jack Sawyer 02-04-2008, 12:47 AM I'm more interested to see what's happens Boxing Day. ;) The day of the tsunami in the Indian Ocean. We'll see if the island is really located there, or if in fact, there's just a portal of some sort there (and no tsunami on the island).
avandelay 02-05-2008, 01:44 PM I just hope we don't have to suffer through a feel-good Xmas episode...
"Coming up next, on a very special Christmas episode of.....LOST."
justashepard23 02-05-2008, 02:02 PM I have actually seen on numerous other threads them analyzing what was up with HO and then the HoHo's, but i think drtyfrank got it right. It seems like it was a subtle merry christmas. Maybe.

I am oviously not paying enough attention. This is a genius observation.
My prediction: no tsunami, but in honor of Boxing Day the Losties pretend to rescue the Not Penny's boat peolple. Of course, I'm an Amercan and may not have a firm grasp on the holiday.
my t dux 02-06-2008, 01:58 PM It would be brilliant if the tsunami came into play and somehow forced the boaties from completing their mission. You've got to love it when fiction ties itself into historical events.
btattersall 02-06-2008, 03:56 PM or if the tsunami was caused by an event on the island?
Orowi 02-06-2008, 04:57 PM or if the tsunami was caused by an event on the island?
Probably would be! But if the island flooded over, is the upper terrain high enough for all to seek shelter? Maybe everyone turns into a mermaid er... mer-person - Charlie did - then we can have an episode completely under water.
Which doesn't seem salty by the way, the way people keep opening their eyes underwater. Can someone explain that?

better yet.
COL_Richard 02-07-2008, 08:15 PM Hurley as Santa, or Santa Jack? everyone, including the Others gatherring for a cup of good cheer, and a nice boar dinner? even better,,,, Santas sleigh flies over the island and crashes, santa runs around aimlessly in the jungle and encounters smokey
they didnt seem all the concerned with Thanksgiving, most seem to be in a day by day mode.
Michaud 02-07-2008, 08:35 PM Good post, crandal. Perhaps the three 'ho's are just a writers' joke about the Losties not realising it's almost Christmas Day. It would certainly count against some of the theories here on the Lage.
Not sure about the tsunami. We should be careful here because a lot of people died as a result, and we know it was started by an earthquake. It may get a mention if plot legitimacy is at stake, but I can't see the writers working it so that events in this show caused the disaster.

LOL, me either. Like, they show the barracks and Kate and Sawyer are sitting next to each other drinking egg nog while "It's a wonderful Life" is on a Dharma Flat screen-lol- or something. blech.
100%

I really don't see them doing that either. It would probably be viewed in very poor taste by the majority of the viewing audience.
JackVersusLocke 02-08-2008, 05:04 AM I hate to be cynical but I bet a large number of viewers don't remember the tsunami enough to get too upset about it.
Michaud 02-08-2008, 06:32 AM I suspect that viewers in Indonesia, India, Thailand and Sri Lanka will remember and might be a little offended. Lost's an international show, and this would be pretty dangerous ground for the writers to get into.

Ha that is a good point, I wonder even if the island is located near there, if the writers have thought about this aswell.
Jack Sawyer 02-10-2008, 11:50 PM Perhaps they're only highlighting the tsunami (through the date, and the plane's purported location in the Indian Ocean) so that they can then reveal, through the lack of a tsunami, that the island is not in fact where we've been lead to believe, which would then raise a bunch of other questions (like all the portal, wormhole, time-travel, vile vortices theories) about the island's possible existance in another dimesion or some such.
JPolarBear 02-12-2008, 05:54 PM or if the tsunami was caused by an event on the island?
That would be cool, but as was said, maybe in bad taste. I've been guessing that it could be 'written in'.
I'd write it in as a deliberate action taken by the secret 'powers that be' to cover-up the sunken wreckage. But that would be a little extreme, even for the Others.
It's location was mentioned last season by Naomi, and now very carefully shown to be off the coast of Java, which is very near where the real tsunami did occur. Thus it could conveniently cover up the 'evidence' of the sunken flt.815, never to be examined again....and confirms that Lostia island is not near there, but in the South Pacific, where we have always thought it is.
Jedi Jeff 02-16-2008, 11:26 PM I could of sworn at COMIC CON 2007 that Darlton mentioned Christmas would celebrated in season 4.
Meano Franko 03-03-2008, 06:43 AM What should our Losties get each other for XMas?
lostalex 03-03-2008, 06:05 PM maybe thats what the big cliff hanger at the end of episode 8 will be! all the Losties just about to open their presents!
picture the scene - they're all sat on the beach around the fire, they all swop presents, they start to unwrap them and just before we see what they got each other
...........closing credits!!
