It seems everyone except the other's sub have arrived on the island in a lightning storm.

I'm not a scientist at all but it seems to me that lightning and extreme magnetism have things in common. After all electro magnets are indeed a part of our everyday lives.

Maybe that is the connection between the middle east and the prize of the island. The island is a generator of endless energy that could power the world forever. Every wonder how the Other's got their electricity?

This could be the reason behind very powerful men wanting to take back control of the island that Ben took over so many years ago?

Are there any greater riches to be had than to control the next generation of energy?

I agree with you. The island has extremely strange EM power.

Some things to consider:

- Dan said that in the elctrical storm the controls went haywire which is consistent with heavy EM

- Helicopters generate tremendous static electricty in cold weather = see the movie Hunt For Red October

- It started to rain shortly before the helicopter arrived = perhaps warm and cold air mixed?

You are correct. Warm and cold air mixed does create an unstable atmosphere. That's part of the reason why rain forms along cold fronts. No wonder they encountered an electrical storm. And there is plenty of moisture available with the surrounding waters and humidity in tropical climates. This goes well with your North Pole theory- the whole cold air/warm air mixing from the North Pole (or similar cold place) and a tropical island.

I hope I have this correct, but didn't the physicist say his name was Faraday? Isn't he known for inventing that cage thing that allows heavy voltage to do no harm to humans?

Seems one might need that if they wanted to harness the island's energy.

I don't know really but it's starting to seem to me like energy is an issue here.

We do need cheap and endless energy right?

Just pondering.
