Sorry if it was already brought up but it's hard to tell when the boards are so busy! Michael Faraday was a physicist famous for greatly contributing to the field of electromagnetism.

... and it's not his real name, is it? Unless it's Sam Dan Faraday ;)

Faraday= electromagnetism= an upcoming explanation of the swan hatch. Good. I've been waiting for this.
Has anyone else wondered why there were electromagnetic storms both times helicopters came? Did the presence of metal cause them?

But he acted like he'd never been there, which confuses me, unless this team is just a "shorthand" version of the whole Dharma group.

I posted this in its own thread, but it is applicable here too. "Minkowski" is another name that seems to have meaning from Hermann Minkowski. He was a physicist and mathematician who worked with Einstein on relativity and the heart of his work is that time and space are not separated entities but intermingled in a four dimensional space-time continuum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermann_Minkowski
In particular what stood out to me was his....
"Question Mark Function" which is also called "The Devil's Staircase".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minkowski%27s_question_mark_function
"Geometry of Numbers"....
"Minkowski Plane"...
Like I said, I am sure this has been brought up by now but I hadn't seen it and since him being "tied up" is a buzz topic right now, I figured I would throw it up here.

Also, we know TPTB love Stephen King, and there is a Russell Faraday in The Stand. However, he is basically the equivalent of Satan in the book, so I don't think that applies here. ;)
