Mine is a tossup between Miles and Daniel but anyone who can talk to ghosts wins in my book.

I was surprised with how much I enjoyed Miles and Daniel...since I'm truly a lostie loyalist...and still haven't warmed up to Ben or Juliet...Miles had some nice sarcastic moments, but I'll have to go with Daniel because he had such a wierd nervous/akward thing going on and he really cracked me up "I'm not really in charge of packing...so..." ROFL! :biggrin:

I have to say Frank. Only because I feel he has more emotional investment in the losties than the other ones.
But my runner up is Miles, because I think (just speculating here) the reason he is involved at all with our lostaways is because he knew they werent dead. Somehow.

I'm loving Daniel so far. His awkwardness is amusing, the the actor who plays him was in Saving Private Ryan, one of my all time favorite films.

Wow you're so right. He KNEW that Naiomi was dead without seeing her body or anything. Saying the thing about the sister only implied that someone was holding a gun to your head not that you're going to die, so I think that he sensed that she was dead. Thus since he didn't sense the losties, he knew they were still alive.

But anyways, my favorite is Dan cause he seems like a nice guy.

I'm just extremely happy that all of them seem to be really good actors.

For some strange reason I love Daniel.

I'm already liking all of them(except Charlotte)... Daniel, Frank and Miles are all great, and great in very different ways. It's awesome that we have these new characters that are all totally diverse from each other.

I really liked all of them, to my delight, and I'm intrigued by what each one appears to be bringing to the mix. I can't wait to see how it will all connect up with what we know about the island so far, and what it will answer about all we DON'T know about the island. All good, strong, personable actors too.

So I had to vote with my hormones on this one because I think I just might need to chain Frank to my bedpost for the rest of the season. Shhhh.... don't tell Sawyer, 'kay? ;)

I don't warm quickly to new characters on the island, but I immediately loved Daniel and Miles. Of the two, Daniel was definitely my favorite. Looking forward to getting to know him more.

I thought the grandson was just hanging around because spirits do that sometimes, but the grandmother wanted him to be at peace...and Miles said he would go downstairs and tell his grandmother that he wasn't around anymore (get her off his back) if he would pony up the cash...so the kid did it. I don't think he would have told Miles where it was if he was was hanging around to give it to his grandmother. Plus there was drugs with the money...which he definitey would not want Granny to see ;).

I'll have to come back to the poll because I am loving all them so far. Really they are all great. Fantastic casting choices. So far, I think I like Daniel the best. I love his awkward/nervousness and he obviously got some past issues. And um...he is really cute too.

I voted Daniel. I like how honest he can be with the survivors. He seems like he can be trusting and loyal to people. Daniel's sensitive side of him was moving as well, when he saw flight 815 underwater. (which is probably a decoy..) He also cracks me up with his awkward moments too. LOL

I like Frank Lapidus more than I expected I would, and I like Miles too but was slightly put off by the whole ghostbusting thing. But he has a distinct personality. You're right it was grandson. But I have the opposite read.

My take is that spirits can't move on if they have unfinished business. I don't know why the boy wouldn't want his grandmother, who was obviously poor, to have a huge wad of cash. Miles only gave her a "discount" becasue he found the cash and kept it. He is shady and NOT to be trusted and to me another villain to hiss at. :)

I thought every new freighter character was very compelling. Great job of casting, all very interesting to watch and very intriguing characters. As for a favorite, it's probably Miles- but I enjoy all of them a great deal.

Daniel is definetly my favorite with Frank a close second. I don't have an opinion on Charlotte yet. Miles is a bit of a scumwad.

I like all of them so far, but I loved Charlotte's Island entrance the best. That was one of the best intros since Jack opened his eyes in the Pilot.

After a second viewing, Daniel has completely won me over. But Charlotte seems pretty cool and I can't wait to find out more about her.

i love all of them because they are all so different and well-acted and each of them bring a new dynamic to the show. daniel and miles are like a strange version of good cop/bad cop, although my impression is that daniel is a genuinely good person. i guess what struck me was how human all of them were. especially charlotte, who acted exactly like someone in her situation would act.

LOST really hit a home run with the casting for these new characters...they are each interesting and believable.

I'll agree with the one who said I love to HATE Miles. He has what sounds like a latvian last name (Straume - meaning, stream, torrent), though, so I might have to warm up to him eventually.
I don't have a definite verdict on Frank yet - but he's intriguing as well.

I like them all - they all seem to have different motivations, even though we're not sure what those are yet. I think Lapidus is my favorite for now but I'm curious as to why Farady is so scatterbrained and nervous.

It feels like Daniel is the one who's the least hostile, so my vote goes there.

Frank is the best new character, without a doubt. (IMHO, of course.) He has a working class sort of grittiness that I like in characters. Miles gets runner-up. That guy is bit intense, doncha' think?

On the flip side of the coin: Daniel's fidgetiness got on my nerves, and if Charlotte is going to be arrogant most of the time (as in the way she was in Tunisa) then I can tell I am probably not going to like her much.

Frank Lapidus hands down
1) I've liked Jeff Fahey as an actor since way back when he played Gary in "One Life To Live" back in the 80s
2) He seems to be there for a different reason than Miles & Charlotte (not so much Daniel). The fact he studied the plane manifest & his questioning of the pilot's identity is intriguing to me.
3) If I have to pick a favorite from the "freighties" for reasons why I don't like the other three; Miles - well I don't really care for snarky smart alecs who rip off old ladies, Charlotte - at first observations she seems untrustworthy & a bit patronizing/high & mighty, but then again I might be too in her situation, Daniel - would be my second favorite, he "seems" like a harmless geek so far & I want to know why they didn't show his wife/girlfriend's face while he was watching tv coverage of the crash.

Before Solaris, I didn't know Jeremy Davies. His performance in that film as Snow was outstanding and I loved his character so much. So when I learnt he would be on Lost, I knew I'd love his character beforehand. And that's what happened -- I voted Daniel Faraday. But I also like Frank Lapidus (a great Fahey) and I find Miles Straume intriguing (although he needs some punching à la Ben, you know, to let some sarcasm bleed out a little). Charlotte Lewis... hm... I'm with mr_find -- if she keeps being an arrogant brat, I'm not going to like her much.

I think I like Charlotte. I know a little strange. But it is almost like she is "playing" her role as infiltrator or whatever they are. Agreed. Frank and Daniel seem to be the decent ones of the 4. Miles on the other hand, seems to just be doing this for the money IMO. As for Charlotte.. I'm tipping her to be Smokey's next meal.

TPTB very much made a choice to not let us know anything about Charoltte from her flahback, just so when Ben calls her out later, we get to see the truth about her when her expression changes. She's the most obviously happy about being there, in every aspect. She's full of questions, but is very nice and smiling about it. But the moment Ben calls her out we see her expression change completely tp say to the audience you know nothing about her and we really don't.
Miles is supposed to be unliked which means they have plans for us to love him. His introductory scene was stealing from an old woman who had just lost her grandson. That's so TPTB playing with us. I bet at his heart of hearts he is probably the best person there (look at the Pilot and who are easily the two most unlikable chracters: Jin and Sawyer who nearly everybody loves now.)
I think Frank is exactly who he seems like he is. A good man who takes what he does seriously but he also knows that his demons are there and he doesn't seem to want to let them get in the way.
I also think Daniel is exactly who he seems to be a guy that is just so smart he doesn't know how to handle the rest of the world. He's just got too much running through his head all of the time to process all of it, and even if he could we wouldn't understand because we don't see the world the way he does.
Charolette is the character that intrigues me the most because she's the one I know the very least about. Though I voted for Frank because going on my immediate reactions I liked him and Daniel the most and I knew Daniel would get more votes so I wanted to show the Lawnmower Barbecue man some love.

Charlotte is the most interesting to me because she seems a bit devious, not unlike an Other or some of the Losties, and I'm curious to find out what she knows (or thinks she knows) about Dharma. Plus I'm a sucker for redheads. Heh.

I think it's more that they have a different kind of sarcasm. Sawyer's nicknames are funny, he usually comes out with wisecracking that makes you laugh. I don't see anything similar in Miles. He sounds so cold and panipulative, but maybe I'll change my mind getting to know him better.

I think the real difference is that we've had 3+ years to get to know Sawyer, and many many people hated him for the whole first season. We've only had a few minutes with Miles, which is totally incomparable. Sawyer also bugged me for a while, until I had time to know more about him than his abrasiveness. I'm actually indifferent to both the taking of grandma's money and Sawyer's cons - since it's only a TV show, I don't have to feel moral indignation at either of them!

Daniel is so cute in that dorky way, and I think there will be a lot more to him....Miles gets points for being able to contact the dead...or whoever they are. I already can't stand Charlotte.
