Is it possible that Hurley was somehow "rescued" without it being voluntary? Could he (and maybe some others) have been forced to leave? After seeing this episode, I don't know why any of the Losties would voluntarily leave with any of these four people.

But we don't know at this point that these are the people they end up leaving with. There are still almost 3 seasons to go...and the point at which they get off the island could still be far in the future. I don't think they will ever have full episodes which take place off the island because it would so dramatically change the format of the show. There has got to be a lot of stuff that takes place between now and whatever point in time that the Oceanic 6 get rescued.
Also remember that Hurley told Jack he was sorry that he went with Locke...so it means he wished he had stayed with Jack...who was looking to get rescued and not to hide. So that could mean that whatever Locke caused to happen is worse that what would have happened had they all stayed on the beach and worked it out together. So maybe anyone who does get rescued regrets some events that took place for that to happen...but I don't think Hurley is forced into it b/c he admits that going with Locke was wrong.

I thought it meant he should have stayed with Jack also, but when I re-watched it before tonights episode it sounded more like something bad happen to Jack's crew and Hurley thinks he could have help prevented it. Thoughts?

That's what I think, too. Hurley seemed to feel a lot of guilt about having gone with Locke and the only reason I can come up with is because something bad happened to Jack's group that he feels somehow responsible for. Although it's probably not something he actually did or could have prevented. It's probably something more like the collapsed balcony from his backstory -- Hurley felt terrible guilt because people died when a balcony collapsed that he was on, even though it had already far exceeded its capacity.
I'm also think that the Oceanic 6 were could have been hand picked by Abbadon for some unknown reason.

Well I'm glad you saw it that way as well. I'm glad I re-watched it because it certainly did change my perspective on that scene. Also another thing was Hurley mentioned going back to the island and Jack was against saying never, in Jack's flash forward which happens after Hurley's as far as time he wants to go back which leads me to believe two more things about this scene, one Hurley was right about going back to the island and Jack finally realizes it, and second and most unfortunate Hurley is now dead. Thoughts?
