Didn't Miles mention something about not putting Naomi's body on the helicopter because of weight issues? Maybe the helicopter can only carry 6 at a time (or 7 with pilot included), or they take two groups of 3 off the island until the helicopter either crashes or stops working for some reason. Do you think it's possible that we get the "Oceanic 6" because they intended to get everyone off the island, but were only able to get 6 off?

I hate to mention this, but the weight issue might explain some of Hurley's guilt from TBOTE. If Hurley hadn't gotten on the helicopter, how many other Losties could have made it instead?

That would be an interesting parallel to him blaming himself for the deck caving in and killing those people.

Maybe the Oceanic 6 get off, but the rescuers get left behind.

That's actually a very interesting thought! I just had a crazy idea- when Abaddon asks Hurley "Are they still alive?", what if he was referring to his crew he sent?

Sayid says he can fly the heli - I'd bet that there is only one trip that is made off the island, and then the island is once again "lost"

Exactly what I am thinking!

Good point. After this episode I wondered if when Abbadon says to Hurley "Are they still alive?" if he meant the 815 survivors or the Freighter crew he put together. Can't wait to find out that answer.

That was my first thought.....and it's going to be interesting to see why Jack was one of them. I believe that he would wait & give up his seat until everyone who wanted off the Island was taken first.

Good thought. But do you think that Hurley and Jack would be that guilt ridden and determined to go back and get some "rescuers" that really could care less about them? Hurley maybe. From what we know of them, I don't see Jack getting all crazy obsessed as we saw in TTLG. It would make sense why Abbaddon visited Hurley, though.

The heli pilot, (I have forgotten his name already!) stated when he was with Juliet that there was just enough fuel to get them back to the freighter. I agree that they make one trip.

I was thinking about that too. You'd think they'd have some extra gas on the freighter though just in case, right? I can envision a scene where they tell the Losties there's only enough fuel for one trip, and through some sort of process the 6 that get picked are the only ones to get off the island.

Another thought: maybe they only had enough gas for one trip because either 1) they were supposed to kill everyone on the island and get back to the freighter, or 2) they didn't expect that many survivors

Thoughts?

Diesels Blitz -- I could get behind both of those points.. It seems interesting that they did only have the bit of gas, maybe they lost the extra supply in the storm? Since that giant box of gas masks and what not "fell out".. I'm not really sure.

I also like the "maybe Hurley feels the guilt because of his weight" issue. That's a pretty interesting idea as to why he feels the guilt about it.

So with this info, can we make a list of the Oceanic 6 then?

We have Jack, Kate, Hurley. Someone stated that Sayid could fly the helicopter. Desmond told Charlie that he saw Claire and Aaron get on a helicopter.

Do you think thats it?

If Claire and Aaron get off the island, I wonder if there wouldn't be one more Lostie because Aaron, having been born on the island, wouldn't be counted as one of the Oceanic 6.

Sayid didn't say HE could fly the helicopter, he just said he could get it to fly. I don't think this is going matter anyway, though. I give the chopper 5 more episodes at the most before it goes bye-bye, and none of our guys are getting off 'till season 6.

Perhaps despite all good intentions to the contrary, there is only enough gas for one trip back to the freighter. When those who are on that first trip try to go back for the others, the island is "lost" again. They are told it is useless to try to find it again, kind of like a one way door. I think that explains Charlotte's and Daniels exhilaration that they are actually on the Island, as if it was almost impossible to believe they made it.

When Kate and Dan carried Naomi's body back to the helicopter Frank promised Dan that he would bring her body back on the next run. To me that suggest that there is extra fuel on the boat... at the moment. Who knows what Ben's man on the boat could get up to....
