Did anyone else think they made a point out of showing Charlotte's interest in Aaron? When she asked if he was born on the Island, I was wondering if the people on the freighter know about the fertility issues and Ben's little side project.

I agree. There was almost something condescending about Charlotte's tone about having the baby on the island. Then again, and I just thought of this; maybe she was merely sympathizing with claire having to have had her baby on the island.

either way though, she creeped me out when she took an interest in claire.

how would you react if you found out a pregnant girl survived a plane crash and head a healthy baby on an island?

If I'm a LOST viewer, I'd react by keeping in mind that this is no ordinary baby, but one that's been surounded by all kinds of dun, dun, dun, dun "must not be raised by another" foreshadowing since season one. One who's grandpa's in Jacob's shack and one who's been studied by the Others in utero.

I just thought it was no passing "Oh, you had a baby? Cool!" moment cause that's not something you'd normally waste lines and reaction shots on.

I agree. I thought she was asking some pretty legitimate questions. Even if she does turn out to be up to no good, I probably would be asking the same questions. "How many of you survived? You've been living on this island the whole time? Did you have your baby here? Don't you WANT to be rescued?"

I'd think the Losties were pretty strange too if they just stared at me like that.

That stood out to me as well.

The fact that Lapidus was SO concerned about who was and was not on the flight manifest might be a reason that they are interested in where Aaron was born.

Aaron was obviously NOT on the flight manifest...just throwing that out there.

They also referred to Juliet as being a person who lives on the island, so they definitely know that there are stuff going on.

they probably know a lot about what is happening/has happened on the island

think about the gas masks/bio hazard bags they brought along
Charlotte recognized the Hydra logo

I think it was just general curiosity, I didn't see anything weird in it.

I don't want to get too off topic but The question about Aaron does tie into this to some extent...being aware enough to ask a question about the place of Aaron's birth (among other things) tells me that...

They are the remnants of Dharma (less likely, I think)
They have been briefed by someone that is Dharma (Abbadon?) or by someone with extensive knowledge of what the Dharma Initiative was working on.I think it is safe to say the our new guests are aware that this island has

Strange electromagnetic properties that would require someone with Faraday's skills.
Fertility issues
Whispers/visions/supernatural events (Whatever you might call them) that would require the skills of a seer.
Long forgotten civilizations that would require the skills of an anthropologist.and they are looking for Ben...that can't be good for him.

I have a feeling that Charlotte is really "Annie" and that she is the actual spy on the boat. Do you think Michael could've found out all that info about the "4" rescuers and gotten that info to Ben? And if Ben was Jamming all transmissions how did he get the info?

I think my reaction to this scene came also from the fact that I'm

spoiled re: Aaron.

That vague enough for you? ;)

But seriously... this was a jampacked episode in which we didn't even get to see Sun and Jin and Rose and Bernard (was Desmond there at all?) so I doubt they would have wasted an entire scene on making adorable conversation and showing the cute chubster. Charlotte now knows his name and knows Claire gave birth on the Island, but since Frank seems to have done a lot of research about the passengers (a la Mikhail), Charlotte mightt have known that already.

They're there looking for Ben so chances are they are aware of his little experiments.

Good one

Surely meant something

One thing about Lost, because it has so many characters, dialog almost always has meaning. Hardly a word is spoken that does not further the story

I have long pointed out that there is much more depth than the average person is aware of. A simple example for this season is the hidden theme in the first epi was Water

Hurely mentions the ocean and does a cannonball
He comes out of the water and learns charlie drowned
The water tank breaks in the Police station(vision)
He tells Abbandon...no water view at the loony bin
Jack says, "water under the bridge" at the end

Hurley showed fear of the water after charlies death--as he made sure his feet didnt even get wet in the P. station. Im sure this will play out more on the Island the next time he is confronted with the ocean
