Claudia815 02-08-2008, 05:32 AM I can't possibly be the first to start this thread, right? I've looked and haven't found it yet so...
BEN: (to Karl) " If you're going to sleep with my daughter I insist you call me Ben."
JACK: "I don't know, Miles... How stupid are you?"
MILES: "OMG, you guys were on Oceanic815???"
JACK: "I did give you... that wink..."
I'm sure Ben has said lots of other quotable things, but I'm too tired now.
ulockeitup 02-08-2008, 06:36 AM "That's not her (Naomi), it's just meat" (or something to that effect)
RodimusBen 02-08-2008, 07:07 AM JACK: "I don't know, Miles... How stupid are you?"
Whole room clapped when Jack said this line.
I would have to say, just about everything out of Daniel's mouth was a great line, if for nothing else than the delivery.
CrazyLatin007 02-08-2008, 07:22 AM I loved all the ones Claudia mentioned. My favorite was "I don't know, Miles... How stupid are you?" Gotta love snarky Jack.
But I can't believe no one has mentioned:
Miles: "Back up, handsome!" OMG, that was a riot!
Cardielost 02-08-2008, 07:24 AM I loved all of Sawyer's snark about Locke's encounter with Walt. Not sure I have this verbatim, but he said something about "taller, ghost Walt."
Cardie
Tugwilly 02-08-2008, 07:27 AM Gotta go with Back up handsome altho my real favorite was not dialog, but a prop. The dust/ghost buster
myfavoriteleaf 02-08-2008, 07:34 AM Sawyer asks, "You mind tellin' us who you're getting you're orders from, Col. Kurtz?"
(referencing Apocalypse Now)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
John says, "No dream, it was Walt, only,...taller."
Sawyer says, "Taller?! What, like a giant?" ....
Sawyer: "What? You didn't ask any follow up questions?"
Also, the looks exchanged between Locke and Sawyer when Locke says, "I'd probably be dead if I still had a kidney there." It helps to cement the idea that "fate" or something has to do with them being there. It also gives Sawyer some thoughts to chew on, in reference to the killing of Anthony Cooper/Tom Sawyer and his role in both of them being on the island.
CrazyLatin007 02-08-2008, 07:35 AM I loved all of Sawyer's snark about Locke's encounter with Walt. Not sure I have this verbatim, but he said something about "taller, ghost Walt."
Cardie
Those were really good too. For the first time I feel the Losties are starting to do what they are supposed to do. Ask the frakkin' questions! They're not perfect at it yet, but it's a step in the right direction.
entergoku 02-08-2008, 07:40 AM When Locke was about to shoot Ben, and Ben said not to shoot him because he could be used as information and answer any questions he might have and then Locke turns around and is all ok then what's the smoke monster?? I thought it was funny because that's the question I would have started with as well even though it was kind of irrelevant to the whole freighter situation.
girlracer265 02-08-2008, 07:50 AM Your wasting your time yoda.
Kerstin80 02-08-2008, 08:10 AM Sayid: Why would Ben say the people coming here intend to do us harm?
Juliet: Because he's a liar. He's trying to scare us, that's what Ben does. Or because the people coming here intend to do us harm.
That one was a bit creepy :eek2:
Sawyer: What exactly did Walt tell you?
Locke: He said I had work to do. That I had to stop this woman Naomi from bringing her people to the island.
Saywer: What, you didn't ask any follow-up questions?
Sawyer: He (Ben) shot you? Yet here you are, fit as a fiddle, walking through the jungle?
Ben's line to Karl was hilarious. Especially the delivery. "Karrrrrl." Just awesome.
Sawyer (to Locke about Ben) "It's only a matter of time before he gets us, Johnny. And I'm betting he's already figured out how he's gonna do it."
Go Sawyer, he knows that Ben.
Kate: You could have told me that the cavalry had arrived.
Jack: I gave you that - wink.
Daniel: I'm Daniel Faraday, and this is Miles...
Miles: Don't tell them my last name!
Daniel: I guess this is just Miles.
Miles: Dan, I swear to God, if you say one more word I'm gonna break your fingers.
Sayid: And what do you do, Miles?
Miles: I collect soil samples.
Man, that guy has a great delivery. Honestly.
Sawyer to Locke (after Ben shot Charlotte): I guess this is the part where I'm supposed to say 'I told you so'
That's all I can think of now. Many great lines in that episode.
axpo23 02-08-2008, 08:25 AM Sayid: Why would Ben say the people coming here intend to do us harm?
Juliet: Because he's a liar. He's trying to scare us, that's what Ben does. Or because the people coming here intend to do us harm.
That one was a bit creepy :eek2:
Completely. I thought the same thing.
I really like the dialog bt the Freighties and Jack's Losties. :)
WannaGetLost 02-08-2008, 11:05 AM I'm very back and forth on Locke these days... but I liked how he said, "if I still had a kiddney there I'd be dead" he just sounded so casual about it. good stuff
Dezdemona 02-08-2008, 11:10 AM LOTS of great lines in this episode. (Drew Goddard and Brian K., so who's surprised?)
Col. Kurtz might be the best Sawyer nickname ever... perfect description of Locke.
My favorite line though, hands down, was when a ticked off Sawyer handed Ben's leash to Locke and said, "YOU walk him." With the requisite, stalking off, of course. LMAO!
Sawyer and Locke are turning out to be a very intriguing and entertaining "odd couple"... add Ben, and we've got all the comedy gold on Team Locke that we could possibly hope for.
olympia325 02-08-2008, 11:17 AM Dan: Let's just say....rescuing you really isn't our top priority..
I may have gotten the line wrong but his delivery is priceless. He plays the scatter-brained scientist so well.
LostOCD 02-08-2008, 11:18 AM "We wouldn't want to argue with taller ghost Walt."
Good ol' Sawyer. The best.
I also loved Ben's delivery of "Karl" when he warned him about having sex with his daughter.
alicou22 02-08-2008, 11:23 AM I'm not sure there were any lines I didn't love in this episode.. It was packed full with great lines. Nobody's mentioned Hurley's "I thought cabin was back there"..."Uh...I thought you meant the plane cabin"
workingmom 02-08-2008, 02:24 PM Locke: He said I had work to do, that I had to stop Naomi.
Sawyer: What, didn’t you ask any follow up questions??
Sawyer is kind of the voice of the fans there, what we've been saying at every turn for years.
Heroic Poser 02-08-2008, 02:31 PM BEN: (to Karl) " If you're going to sleep with my daughter I insist you call me Ben."
JACK: "I don't know, Miles... How stupid are you?"
These. ***** 5 stars. I was waiting for someone to put Miles in his place.
carorama 02-08-2008, 02:34 PM Jack: What are these for?
Dan: Uh... I'm not in charge of the uh packing so....
Daniel's lines were instant classics.
Kate: Why don't you put that away, no one wants to get hurt here.
Dan: Because then Miles would... kill me.
driveshaft76 02-08-2008, 02:42 PM Just about everything Miles said was great. The "How's this? OHHHH! You guys were on flight 815, and you're alive?!" was priceless.
"Don't tell him my last name"
"I collect soil samples."
But my favorite had to be Sawyer's "Taller? Like a giant?" line.
Briolette 02-08-2008, 03:02 PM Daniel saying something to the effect that the light didn't scatter right. Referencing so much in that statement! He being something of a physicist and all!
The characters were great, the writing... dialogue made us connect to them immediately... whether they were good or bad people! (Unlike Nikki/Paulo... who connected us not at all! Well, me anyway.)
I really love your take Dezdemona!
Sawyer and Locke are turning out to be a very intriguing and entertaining "odd couple"... add Ben, and we've got all the comedy gold on Team Locke that we could possibly hope for.
Michelle67 02-08-2008, 03:05 PM Don't remember the exact lines but I loved it when Locke told Charlotte "we don't want to leave" and later when she asked "what is wrong with you people?" Kind of summed up the idea that the losties have become the others (they're even going to stay at one of the other strongholds).
But I agree that the eppy was full of great lines and the banter between Sawyer, Locke, and even Ben was fantastic. It's great how they interjected humor and sarcasm in the script yet maintained a serious nature to the storyline. That's not always easily done and they did a wonderful job both in the writing and the acting.
hiltop 02-08-2008, 03:12 PM I don't know if this is the best place to post this, but I can't wait to hear what Sawyer's nicknames are going to be for the other Freighties he hasn't met yet.
ame en peine 02-08-2008, 03:13 PM Sawyer about Ben... something like...
Can anyone tell me why we're letting this guy live?
He so wanted to beat him to a pulp last night after the Kate remark..
caforrest2047 02-08-2008, 03:13 PM I was totally prepared to say "rescuing your people is not our primary objective" but when it was delivered in the epi, seemed not as sinister as it appeared in the ads. I had to go with Sawyer questioning Locke about Walts height, what like a giant, that one made me smirk, as Sawyer always seems to do to me.
Briolette: Don't forget about Hurley, once hes had a chance to calm down about the whole Charlie thing, hopefully he gets back to being fun time Hurley, although I don't think that will happen.
jennylee27 02-08-2008, 04:00 PM Oh my, how can I even add anything to this thread? I'm cracking up rereading everything. I definitely loved "taller ghost Walt" and "I don't know Miles, how stupid are you?" Wow, I don't think Jack has ever made my quotables list before. Ha!
New one, how about Abaddon to Naomi: "There ARE no survivors of flight 815" (maybe not the exact words, but you get my drift). Liar!!!
Briolette 02-08-2008, 04:58 PM ...
Briolette: Don't forget about Hurley, once hes had a chance to calm down about the whole Charlie thing, hopefully he gets back to being fun time Hurley, although I don't think that will happen.
I have to admit after Locke said something about executing Ben, Sawyer looked over at Hurley and Hurley was gently shaking his head back and forth in a gesture that indicated to Sawyer that he was not to do that! That was one of my favorite "expression" moments! (Other then that, the gestures that came out of the 4 new characters were very expressive, especially when caught off guard, what a riot!
ToutureMeSy 02-08-2008, 05:49 PM I liked Naomi saying she was being sent to babysit "a head case, a ghostbuster, an anthropologist and a drunk". We like to have a little backstory with our new characters, so here you go. Seems to have summed them up quite well if you ask me, although the pilot seemed sober (at this point).
CrazyLatin007 02-08-2008, 06:01 PM I'd forgotten about this one, but I really liked Charlotte's defiance of Locke and her "I'm not asking for permission" line.
HoardingHurley81 02-08-2008, 06:07 PM Your wasting your time yoda.
That's the one right there!!!
I also find it amusing that Ben got right underneath his skin immediately after Sawyer pulled Carl away from Ben, telling him,"Relax, he's just trying to get in your head."
jburke 02-08-2008, 06:16 PM "How many different languages do you need to read that in?"
"How many languages are there?"
I felt the same way Monday when I went to the news stand and bought every paper in every language I could find (for the Giants post-Super Bowl coverage). GO G-MEN!
annieone 02-08-2008, 06:30 PM Sawyer: "What? You didn't ask any follow up questions?"
sheesh, that is what we have been saying since episode 1.01.
lostlocke 02-08-2008, 06:33 PM I got a little chuckle out of Jack in this episode, which is a shock! Though I knew 100% that he was going to say " I don't know Miles, how stupid are you"! Still it was funny.
briar910 02-09-2008, 12:50 AM BEN: (to Karl) " If you're going to sleep with my daughter I insist you call me Ben."
JACK: "I don't know, Miles... How stupid are you?"
Those were my two favorites too. Ben is so awesome. Just the way he said "Karl" had me laughing out loud. Jack's was close second.
I was totally prepared to say "rescuing your people is not our primary objective" but when it was delivered in the epi, seemed not as sinister as it appeared in the ads.
I thought that as well. Daniel seemed very sinister in the ads and the way he delivered it gave me chills, but they must have used a different take in the actual episode because it sounded way different. He was much more unsure of himself, which was a pleasant surprise because I like his character very much so far, but he is not at all what I was expecting after seeing that one ad.
I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but I liked Charlotte's "Uh, Hi!" after landing in the water and spotting Locke and the rest of the Losties. It was such a random moment, but I guess in a situation like that, what else would you say? :D
AnalogKid 02-09-2008, 12:54 AM "There's a man on the wing of the plane!!!"
Oh wait, wrong show.
"You're wasting your time, Yoda" followed by the knowing smirk on Ben's face, was among my favorites for the interplay, though "I don't know, Miles...how stupid are you?" was probably the best.
shootingstar 02-09-2008, 01:21 AM I'm not sure there were any lines I didn't love in this episode.. It was packed full with great lines. Nobody's mentioned Hurley's "I thought cabin was back there"..."Uh...I thought you meant the plane cabin"
That was one of my favorite quotes, Hurley's facial expression is what did it for me.
Sawyer's yoda line was also funny. Really this episode had some very good lines.
swyrlvr 02-11-2008, 07:39 PM Sawyer: Mind tellin' us who your gettin' your orders from, Col. Kurtz
Jack: I don't know miles, how stupid are ya.
Miles, to the ghost: You can GO now.
Locke: See, that's your problem. We don't want to be rescued.
Sawyer, in a whisper, after Locke threatens to kill Ben: You want me to do it?
Frank: Hey Miles, this is Juliet. She wasn't on the plane.
Daniel: I'm not in charge of packing.
The newbies got some of the best lines.
100%
OOPS! Almost forgot one of my favs.
MIles, with a gun to Jack's head "Like now, Jack here would say 'tell my sister I love her.'
I think this dude may give Sawyer a run for his money when it comes to the one-liners.
LooseEnds 02-11-2008, 08:03 PM A lot of great ones have been mentioned so far but I didn't see this one. After Ben shoots Charlotte, she and Locke have this exchange:
LOCKE: I'm sorry you got shot, I didn't intend for that to happen.
CHARLOTTE: Really? Because it seemed like you were about to shoot me yourself.
LOCKE: What good would you be to me dead.
CHARLOTTE: I feel much more comfortable now. Thanks.
My favorite part is when Charlotte says "Thanks" - I loved her delivery.
Pythagoras99 02-12-2008, 12:36 AM I agree that "I don't know, Miles. How stupid are you?" was pretty darn good.
And all Daniel's stuff was great. Especially when he's off in scientific observation-land:
"The LIGHT... strange out here isn't it? Kinda like it doesn't... doesn't scatter quite right..."
And then Kate, apparently figuring him to be mentally deficient, says, "Daan... your name's Dan, right? Listen, Dan, I know you don't want anyone to get hurt, so why don't you just put that away?"
"Umm... because then Miles would kill me?"
And also,
Daniel: "I'm a physicist. I mean, I guess you could call me a physicist. I don't really like being pigeon-holed into one..."
Miles: "Dan, I swear to God, if you say one more word I'm gonna break your fingers!"
Bella 02-12-2008, 01:00 AM Pretty much everything Daniel said was awesome; his delivery is spot-on every time.
I also liked Jack's, "Well, I gave you that wink..." (Might not have been verbatim but you get the idea.)
ginloveslost 02-12-2008, 01:24 PM One of the lines I really enjoyed that I don't think has been mentioned was when Jack handed the sat phone to Miles and then makes a comment about not saying anything about your sister.
Loved Jack in this episode. He actually had a personality.
Dany_E 02-12-2008, 02:17 PM I didn't see it mentioned here but Fahey's (Lapidus) delivery of the line "I saw a cow...?" was brilliant.
Starr Fish 02-12-2008, 04:25 PM Frank: "I just saw a cow."
giulia_ricci 02-13-2008, 12:24 PM Jack: What are these for?
Dan: Uh... I'm not in charge of the uh packing so....
***
Sawyer: You're wasting your time Yoda.
(That was absolutely priceless)
Liplocked 02-14-2008, 01:15 PM SO much of this episode was funny it's hard to pick - hell, I even have to concur with the finding that Jack was interesting instead of irritating for a change - but I'll add a new one:
I liked John saying of Ben "...apart from his mouth, he's completely harmless."
I dunno about that John - his aim ain't half bad!
But the best line by far has to be the any Ben and Charlotte are exchanging code in. ;)
