Interesting that there is the "Oceanic 6" and six important (?) numbers we've grown to care about.

Is there a connection with where others sat and the 4,8,15,16,23,42? Could each of them be assigned a number in some way?

Any ideas?

I've thought of this, and I wish I could remember the seat assignments from back in the first season, when the Oceanic site was up and running in its original version.

I don't think so because Ana's number on the plane was 42 and Hurley paid for two tickets and... nevermind, that's a spoiler... That messes up the symmetry. I don't think the Numbers are that mystical so as to be connected with each O6 member being a variable, but I think only a few of them are "supposed" to go back.

Jack was a number on the plane: 23. The rest don't match though.

Yeah, while I love to theorize sometimes things are just there. Like Kate's mom waiting on Sawyer in "The Long Con"; I think it was confirmed on the podcast as an example of the 'interconnectivity of the universe', not so much something to be explored.

So it's hard to say when something is significant or just a mere coincidence planted by the writers as a ghost trail.
