I just read that the repeat of the up-coming episode # 4.04 on February 28, 2008 will be ... a special enhanced version, which includes text on the lower third of the screen with on-screen facts that "let viewers in" on clues in the show, as well as give back-story to catch new viewers up.Now I wonder if this is just a partly erroneous press release or what will be so special about this episode that it merits being treated equal to "Through The Looking Glass".
Or will all LOST repeats be treated this way now?
Warning: The full press release at www.abcmedianet.com/Web/progcal/dispDNR.aspx?id=021108_15 (http://www.abcmedianet.com/Web/progcal/dispDNR.aspx?id=021108_15) contains spoilers for season four in general and the fourth episode in particular, of course.
I already quoted everything relating to the supposed broadcast of the enhanced version of this episode above.

Ok with not knowing everything

That's interesting - there's a new preview video on the ABC site advertising a new enhanced episode for this Thursday followed by the new regular episode. They don't say which episode is being enhanced - but they say it's starting one hour prior to the next new episode, so it can't be TTLG. So are they going to be showing a different enhanced episode each week before the new one?

I just assumed they were going to start 'enhancing' each repeat. No idea why they feel the need to do this. I found it quite distracting. Ah, well. I'm just happy to have the repeats.

Maybe ABC hired an ambitious new intern and had to find some demanding task for him / her? ;)

Two words: February sweeps. ;)

You think the enhanced versions help in the sweeps, Starrox?

Anyone know what that means? The preview said an "enhanced episode of Lost" followed by a NEW episode. Is the "enhanced episode" different?

Not sure, perhaps it will be like Season 3's finale that they re-ran just before season 4's premiere.
Pop up video style?!

I see. But they didn't do this with last week's repeat of "The Beginning Of The End", did they?
By the way, is this just another bug (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showpost.php?p=1729480&postcount=630%3Cbr%20/%3E) or why is everything - starting with my post (www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showpost.php?p=1757341&postcount=1) of yesterday - a new thread in the Confirmed Dead (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/forumdisplay.php?f=321) sub forum now even though I posted it in the ABC Premieres A Special Enhanced Version Of The "Lost" Season Three Two-hour Finale (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=86872) thread in the Lost Talk (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/forumdisplay.php?f=44) sub forum? I mean, what's it got to do with "Confirmed Dead"? Neither the repeat of this episode nor that of # 4.03 are supposed to be enhanced according to www.abcmedianet.com (http://www.abcmedianet.com).

I found it completely distracting also. On my Directv info for TTLG, it said that the captions were to help viewers "catch up." All I was thinking while reading the captions was that if I'd never seen the show before, those comments would confuse me even more! lol There were a few interesting facts thrown in, that maybe a casual viewer may not have figured out on their own, but overall it was annoying. I told my husband it was ABC's version of "LOST for Dummies."

I didn't put this thread here - the mods moved it. It seemed relevant to me, but I guess because it was the preview, it was "LOST"

I liked the pop-ups. I think they are helpful - I already had some idea about what was important, but it was nice to have confirmation that I'm on the right track.

I keep reading references to information exclusively provided in this format, so why isn't this on iTunes as well?!
I do hope the DVD production team will find this feature useful enough to somehow include it as a option on the up-coming season four DVD set!

Thank the Gods for the mighty LOSTpedia (http://www.lostpedia.com)!
I just discovered their interesting site on the enhanced LOST episodes at www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Enhanced (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Enhanced).
They even have transcripts of these pop-up captions!
:jawdrop:
That's awesome!
So eat your heart out iTunes!
But if you finally decide to offer the enhanced versions as well I'll forgive you, of course! :hypocrit:

My concern is missing a juicy bit of info shown during the enhanced episode...I'm stuck at work during it.

Acording to www.abcmedianet.com/web/progcal/progcal.aspx?Date=03/20/2008 (http://www.abcmedianet.com/web/progcal/progcal.aspx?Date=03/20/2008) there won't be an enhanced rebroadcast of episode 4.07 before the broadcast of episode 4.08 on March 20 ...
So "The Other Woman" will be the last episode to become enhanced next week.
I wonder if these enhanced repeats didn't stay as successful as the first one was, if they were too expensive to produce, or if that internship just was over ;) ...
Anyway, I think it was a cool gimmick and would have loved to see them continue with it.

Or how about the strike is over and we (ABC) don't need filler programing so the heck with the LOST fans.

Personally, I'll be glad when they're gone. Aside from the fact that they're often cheesy, what was with all the real-world facts for The Constant? I dont need to know what this ship is used for in the Real World. Please... stay on the story would ya?

You're right: There'll be some new episode of some comedy show before LOST on March 20. I didn't know these already had completed new episodes.

That's interesting. I actually enjoy these real world facts.
