I think you're on the right track. While I don't think the Freightie Four are as daft as they appear, I don't think they'll be proven to be "bad" guys either. They have a legit purpose for being on the Island that relates to their areas of expertise. The "x" factor is Lapidus, who is a pilot with (at least IMO) the potential for something to hide:
