Jack Sawyer 02-15-2008, 01:36 AM Sawyer called Ben "Gizmo," from Gremlins, presumably for his big eyes. I thought that was great. Guinevere 02-15-2008, 01:39 AM Always my favorite thread of any episode! My fave was Hurley saying, "Great! The ship sent us another Sawyer!" teksmith 02-15-2008, 01:40 AM I liked Miles response to Hurley when he asked him if they were there to kill them. Miles: "Not yet" elly_smiles 02-15-2008, 01:47 AM frank about sayid- "was he a democrat?" jack- "torturer" i loved the look on franks face there. priceless lostmio 02-15-2008, 01:54 AM Everything Daniel and Lapidus said was adorable, and I was really diggin' it when Jack told Kate "then, 20 minutes later I leave anyway", But all that kinda went to dust when Ben told Sayid to take off his shirt... I think he said that anyway, I was kind of in a haze by that time. Was there dialog in this episode? lockesmithe 02-15-2008, 01:57 AM Ben: "I'm thirsty." And then Locke sits down and drinks the glass of tea....funny stuff. briar910 02-15-2008, 02:05 AM Ben: "I'm thirsty." Ha, ha that was great. And he raised his hand. kayo 02-15-2008, 02:15 AM I loved Sawyer's line about sending Ben's big toe to market and then going after the roast beef...priceless! Claudia815 02-15-2008, 02:15 AM I'm going to find more when I rewatch, I'm sure. NOTHING beats Hurley's eyeroll when he said: "Oh, great, the ship sent us another Sawyer!" but there were a few lines that stood out to me. BEN: "I'm thirsty." JACK: "Send me a postcard" That whole scene between my boys was just... Hee. I'm still giddy. BEN: "The last time you were thinking with your heart instead of your gun..." JACK: "No... he was a torturer." Fanboy! Pretty much everything Lapidus said. paclives777 02-15-2008, 02:17 AM frank about sayid- "was he a democrat?" He didn't say democrat. He said diplomat. Dezdemona 02-15-2008, 02:20 AM Loved the ones already mentioned. I would add the exchange between Jack and Frank over Daniel's experiment, when Jack asked Frank if he understood what Daniel was doing and Frank replied that he didn't, saying: "Half of what he says goes over my head... the other half goes WAY over my head." I also liked Frank's response to Sayid when he learned that he'd traded Miles for Charlotte. Frank: You cheated Sayid: Yes Frank: Lucky for you that guy is a pain in my ***. lostmio 02-15-2008, 02:23 AM Frank: You cheated Sayid: Yes loved it... Lapidus and Sayid rocked my boat! flyinglo777 02-15-2008, 02:59 AM Miles: "In case you zoned out while you were tweezing your goatee, one of these yahoos took Charlette prisoner" lockesmithe 02-15-2008, 03:55 AM Ha, ha that was great. And he raised his hand. Yes. LMAO. Perfect comedic timing by Emerson. Kerstin80 02-15-2008, 10:04 AM Also great was when they approached Othertown and Miles saw the swingsets. "Swingsets? These people had daycare or something?" Also great when Daniel examined that timer in the rocket. "Not good." His delivery is just so great. And Sayid and Ben had some good ones this episode, too. Sayid: What would you know about friendship? Ben: I know that having friends is of no use if you can't trust them. ooooh, Ben is playing mindgames again  avandelay 02-15-2008, 10:22 AM "Great, the ship sent us another Sawyer." and "I'm thirsty." Classic! bawstngrl 02-15-2008, 10:30 AM "Swingsets? These people had daycare or something?" He has a certain geegy creepiness about him, but some of the best delivered lines. chrisyudbs 02-15-2008, 10:42 AM Miles: I meet her on the boat... she's hot and I dig her accent! jennylee27 02-15-2008, 10:48 AM Frank: "Lucky for you, that guy is a pain in my ***." LOL! Maybe Miles will disappear for a bit. Hurley: "Great, the ship sent us another Sawyer." Sawyer: "I don't know. Let's find out." (Gah, I'm bad at remembering exact wording.) Jack: "Sawyer won't let him." There were a couple of other funny moments. I'm sure I'll remember upon rewatching! Kate731 02-15-2008, 11:02 AM I also laughed when Miles comes out all tough-guy to Sayid: "did you really think you were going after Charlotte without me?" Sayid: Of course not. Miles: "Oh" Seeming at a loss that he doesn't have to fight with Sayid about it. Confidence-Man 02-15-2008, 01:30 PM My favorite lines are when Locke couldn't see the cabin and evryone asking him what next and Ben said Ben: He waiting for someone to tell him what to do. Jack: He's a torturer Sayid. Let me take you out to dinner and I'll tell you where you know me from. Sawyer: Easy Gismo Claudia815 02-15-2008, 01:33 PM My favorite lines are when Locke couldn't see the cabin and evryone asking him what next and Ben said Ben: He waiting for someone to tell him what to do. :lol2: I know. I shouldn't enjoy watching Ben pwning Locke so badly because he is, afterall, kinda evil, but it's my guilty pleasure and Locke kinda deserves a bit of karmic retribution anyway. ;) Aggie00 02-15-2008, 01:38 PM I always like this kind of thread. Sawyer has the best lines. I thought it was funny him calling Ben 'Gizmo' from Gremlins because of the big eyes. That got me going! lostlocke 02-15-2008, 01:41 PM I did like the line that Hurley said about Miles being another Sawyer. I hated when Jack said that Sayid had been a torturer, that was a bit cheesy! God's tom 02-15-2008, 01:57 PM Ben: "He's looking for someone to tell him what to do next!" Sawyer: "What makes you think there's anything waiting for you back there except handcuffs?" Locke: "Right now, I'm the one making the decisions, Hugo. Are you gonna have a problem with that?" (That close up of Locke's face was the 1st time in the series that he's ever scared me!) Sawyer's line about the piggies & the roast beef! Best Sawyer line in a long time! Dan's whole experiment sequence! He's really starting to intregue me! Lostie1180 02-15-2008, 02:08 PM Frank: "Lucky for you that guy is a pain in my a**." Hurley: "Great. The ship sent us another Sawyer." Ben: "I'm thirsty." while raising his hand. Then Locke sits down and drinks the tea, completely ignoring him and never getting him any tea. :rotflmao2: Sawyer: "Easy Gizmo." Hurley: "Yeah, I saw you snap that guy's neck with that breakdancing thing you do with your legs. I think I will stay back here." Hurley, Sawyer and Ben always have the greatest lines. I think these three have to be my favorite characters to watch. I enjoy them every episode. :heartben: :hurley: :sawyer: dushell 02-15-2008, 04:56 PM Sayid's reference to Ben when he said something along the lines of I would have had to have sold my soul to believe anything you tell me or something. WHAT WAS SAID exactly there? lostnthesoutheast 02-15-2008, 05:19 PM My husband and I thought that it was funny when Kate asked Sawyer if he was going to hold her captive, and Sawyer replied (paraphased) "not unless you are into that". The reason this was so funny is that Kate was the one with the gun (and she was actually waving it around when she said that line as she flopped down on the bed). It was like she was trying to give him ideas and yet trying to be the innocent, damsel- in-distress all at the same time. Morrick 02-15-2008, 05:31 PM All of the above. Worth mentioning is also the WTF moment Faraday experienced when the payload did not arrive but was supposed to. And the final line of the episode... how Ben says "Good". Awesome. Cheers Rick driveshaft76 02-15-2008, 05:39 PM 2 episodes in a row Miles has had some great lines. The daycare one cracked me up. That and Ben's what about me, "i'm thirsty!" line. good stuff. lostnthesoutheast 02-15-2008, 06:05 PM Miles does have some really great lines. I don't want to like him, but it's really hard not to. workingmom 02-15-2008, 06:11 PM Ben: "I'm thirsty." while raising his hand. Then Locke sits down and drinks the tea, completely ignoring him and never getting him any tea. :rotflmao2: It reminded me of the "Got any milk?" that Ben asked Jack and Locke in the hatch after completely mindfraking them about Ana Lucia's mission to find the balloon. But this time I think Locke had the upper hand, if only for a few minutes. Diesels Blitz 02-15-2008, 06:18 PM I liked when Sayid was put into the room Ben was being held at, and Ben said something like "I guess they're running out of jail space." Maxum 02-15-2008, 06:27 PM Paraphrasing some: (Jack staying behind on the next "mission") Kate: "Now you know what it feels like to be me." Jack: So does that mean I can wait 20 minutes and go anyway?" Frank: "Half of what he says goes over my head. The other half goes way over my head." Frank: "Was he a diplomat?" Jack: "No." He was a torturer." Corey Chaos 02-15-2008, 06:36 PM Hurley "Great, they sent us another Sawyer." Ben: "I'm thirsty." The two above were wonderful lines. But all that kinda went to dust when Ben told Sayid to take off his shirt... I think he said that anyway, I was kind of in a haze by that time. Was there dialog in this episode? I always miss the dialogue first time around. I'll just get to watch it again. zillah 02-15-2008, 07:23 PM "Hurley: "Great, the ship sent us another Sawyer."" That was just so full of win. I'm still grinning about it. :) CSSTolkien 02-17-2008, 06:09 AM It's worth remarking "The Economist" is a Sayid episode, yet in the "best lines" thread, there are maybe three votes for Sayid. I don't think this is because Sayid had lousy lines. Naveen Andrews, the actor, has the great sense to keep out of the way a wonderfully, subtly written character. Hurley, Sawyer, Miles, these guys are three (very different) variations on a smart aleck. But Sayid has the amazing talent for phrasing things in a way that is incredibly direct, yet incredibly polite. As the episode opens, we meet Sayid meditating in a clearing before the corpse of a woman wearing the same bracelet as a woman he will come to love moments before he murders her. Ponder these lines for a moment of Sayid appreciation: We did call these people to get us off this island, didn't we? I love Europe. Everyone speaks English. I'm a headhunter. A corporate recruiter. I will tell you exactly where you know me from if you let me take you out to dinner. The last time you encountered him, you put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger. That is not good diplomacy. Everyone has a boss, Elsa. Give me Char-Lot. Allow me to do things my way. Or a war is coming which we will both be powerless to stop. ((Locke: Why would I give you Charlotte for nothing?)) Oh I think you misunderstood me. I never expected you to give her to me for nothing. OTHER CATEGORIES FROM THE EPISODE: Best Glance: To Juliet, looking at Desmond as he looks at the chopper for the first time. I don't have a minute-mark for when this happens in the show, but the whole thing is worth watching again just for that two-second moment. A wonderful piece of work from an actor who's only other real line is "Anything I can do to help." Best look of the night (different from a Best Glance, because it's not directed at anyone): Ben, for his face when he realizes that he's in Locke's hands, and the only reason Locke is against shooting his toes off is that it means someone will have to carry him. It's appropriate to give Ben some kind of award. "The Economist" will go down in the books as a "Sayid show," but it's really a Sayid-and-Ben-episode. Throughout it all, we see Sayid handling himself brilliantly, and Ben cowering powerlessly, raising his hand like a beat dog for a glass of iced tea. Until we close with Sayid in tears as Ben literally puts him back together. Leaving us with the final category, "Best Sentence": (Best Sentence is different from Best Line because the prize goes to the writers, not the actor): Good. I like twinkies 2 02-17-2008, 10:24 AM Actually, what Hurley said was, "Awesome, the ship sent us another Sawyer." Which is just a little more Hurleyesque than, "Great..." I laughed out loud when I heard it. sawyers_sweetness 02-17-2008, 02:44 PM Hurley "Great, they sent us another Sawyer." This was probably my favorite. I loved it "Oh, great, the ship sent us another Sawyer". lol Also when Sayid says to Hurley "Hurley, I am not going to hurt you" Hurley: "Sorry dude, but I saw you snap that guys neck with that break dancing thing you did. Think I'll hang back a little" Well ok, it's not verbatim, but close enough. I loved when Sayid did that move in the season finale last year. You're absolutely right, Sayid has terrific lines, they're just more subtle. He's a very intelligent guy and a fluent English speaker, and he loves his double entendres. I like the way Sayid expresses himself. not_me_brother 02-17-2008, 08:40 PM Miles: I meet her on the boat... she's hot and I dig her accent! my favorite by far. Miles has the best lines. But all of the frieghties are a little out there and say the wackiest things. I believe that when he told Niomi that the team members were selected for a certain reason, he was referring to their sense of humor. Confidence-Man 02-17-2008, 10:31 PM :lol2: I know. I shouldn't enjoy watching Ben pwning Locke so badly because he is, afterall, kinda evil, but it's my guilty pleasure and Locke kinda deserves a bit of karmic retribution anyway. ;) I agree Locke deserves it because he got a big head and thinks he is more in tuned with the Island the Ben. I didn't feel that guilty, but I guess we are suppose to be rooting against Ben. To be honest, that's definitely my least favorite line from the whole episode. I dunno, I just thought it was a little overblown. I dont believe Sayid would hurt Hurley, so that line just kinda fell flat for me. shootingstar 02-18-2008, 12:18 AM It's worth remarking "The Economist" is a Sayid episode, yet in the "best lines" thread, there are maybe three votes for Sayid. His lines were perhaps the best of this entire episode. Claudia815 02-18-2008, 12:22 AM To be honest, that's definitely my least favorite line from the whole episode. I dunno, I just thought it was a little overblown. I dont believe Sayid would hurt Hurley, so that line just kinda fell flat for me. ...because if I were Sayid, I'd retort with: "I did it to save everyone's lives, yours included!" I know what you mean, it made very little sense to me as well and I think it was just put there cause it would be har har funny, even though Hurley mowed down a guy with the Dharma van for the very same reason that Sayid snapped that guy's neck. I agree Locke deserves it because he got a big head and thinks he is more in tuned with the Island the Ben. I didn't feel that guilty, but I guess we are suppose to be rooting against Ben. It's easier to laugh at snarky evil than it is to laugh at dumb, which is what Locke is in this situation. Lost_in_DeLandFla 02-18-2008, 12:46 AM Hands down, it had to be Hurley's line about another Sawyer! Burnt Sienna 02-18-2008, 01:09 AM Miles to Sayid: Can I have my gun back? |
