I don't think anyone has posted a thread on this yet, but does anyone have a screenshot of the close up they did on the shelf of Ben's bookcase before Sayid finds out the bookcase hides another room?
For all us "book club" readers of the literature of LOST I was hoping to see what was there. I thought I saw a Bible, but I wasn't sure. Thanks.
-Ted.
p.s. There is a LOST bookclub thing I started on goodreads.com if anyone is interested.

your thread has been restored. FYI, there is a LOST bookclub here on this site already. HERE (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/forumdisplay.php?f=211) in the LOST books section.

Not that my forum on goodreads is great, but that book club is a bit sparse and overlooked on here. Unfortunately. But thanks, I did know about it.
Thanks for restoring the thread.
Now I still have not been able to find a screen short of that shelf. I am going to try to re-watch it later this weekend and pause to see if I can tell the books. I don't have Hi Def. So I don't know how many books I can make out.

I don't have any screengrabs, but I'm sure there was a Holy Bible as well as other seemingly religious books, my fiancee and I did a LOT of rewinding of the DVR last night... That was one of the things we looked at.

Here's a screencap (http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh294/LittleFairy78_2007/bookshelf.jpg). I hope it helps, I haven't yet taken the time to look closely at any of the titles.

I was gonna make a thread about this =) I don't have a HD screenie of Ben's bookshelf, however I could identify three of the books.
The dark brown/black one is Quran, holy text of Islam.
The one in the middle is Red Man's Religion by Ruth Murray Underhill.
Imo, the most interesting one there is the one with white cover. It's Kings of Love (The History and Poetry of Ni'matullahi Sufi Order) by Nasrollah Pourjavady and Peter Lamborn Wilson. P.L. Wilson is also known as Hakim Bey.
It was really amazing to see Ben got these books. All are very interesting reads, and I've been keeping them on my shelf for long =)

I'm not sure if this is any better. I can't make out any titles except for the Quran.

Both books (Kings of Love and Red Man's Religion) are based on the same concepts: Mysticism and pyscho-spiritualism.
Kings of Love's main subject is poetry and history of Nimatullahi Order (a Sufi tariqat/sect). There are really good sources about Sufism on web. For a start:

Red Man's Religion is about beliefs and practices of North Mexican Indians. You can find its e-book at google books.

Was that bookcase shown in any of the scenes of Ben's house from last season?
