Anyone else can't help but shake the feeling that there is a strong homage being paid to James Bond in this episode? Smooth & suave Sayid

Starting of course with the wager at the golf course. Bond loves to gamble to make things interesting.

Meeting a beautiful foreign woman in Berlin, Germany (Octop...y?)

Sawyer calling Ben 'Gizmo', probably a reference to his appearance or better yet, a throwaway line to tie in to James Bond and to all his gizmos.

Sayid's tuxedo going to the Opera.

**When talking to Ben after being captured by Locke, Ben mentions the idea of keeping friends you can't trust. This is the basis of the movie Goldeneye where 006 betrays 007.

And during the talk with Ben, Sayid says that their enemies will be expecting him.
In every Bond film, the villain always expects Bond to come.

Maybe I'm just reading too much into this, but tell me if you guys find more to support this argument.

I agree--we were laughing about the "Bond" vibe as we watched the show.

Except that in the end, Sayid's life was tragic.

Got this from the bracelet (http://thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=88750&page=2) thread from PapaThor

"What kind of bad guys wear matching jewelry?" MamaThor says.

"The dumb*ss kind." I replied.

We were all laughing when we saw the matching bracelet on Elsa. It reminded us of the James Bond villains who all wore the same ring. You know the rings with what looked like a spider or something like that. Oh yeah, it was SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion).

They might as well have had "I'm a bad guy" pin on their lapels or a target circle on their backs.

The golf course scene was similiar to the golf match in Goldfinger.

I thought it had elements of Bond in there. But also an air of the Bourne movies. I put this down primarily to the location, Berlin.

The bit at the end as well reminded me of when the guy is removing the bullet from the comatose Bourne.

I thought 007 the whole time.....how many times does James Bond fall in Love with the beautiful Female who lures him in then (while nearly naked, after sex) she turns the tables on him, tries to kill him & leaves him no choice but to kill her dead, instead.....yeah I think it was a homage to that whole 007 thing ...I Loved it.
