View Full Version : Why didn't Juliet go on the Helicoptor? hookem_9 02-15-2008, 11:49 AM Why didn't she go? We know she "wants to get off this island more than anything". What's the deal? Waiting for Jack? wanders01 02-15-2008, 11:53 AM I think she's waiting to see what's up with the freighter people. Des and Sayid are going to check them out first. KeepingAwake 02-15-2008, 11:53 AM It's been apparent since the helicopter arrived that there was going to have to be another means off the island as that helicopter would be a hugely inefficient way to transport that number of people off the island. So I think Juliet trusts Jack to make some decisions about arranging rescue. WannaGetLost 02-15-2008, 11:53 AM Yeah, I think she's waiting to see how things play out on the Island first. She looked so scared last epi when they called her a native! How do u explain that to people on a random frieghter? myfavoriteleaf 02-15-2008, 11:54 AM Maybe she has an ulterior motive; she's proven to be a great liar. wanders01 02-15-2008, 12:00 PM Maybe she has an ulterior motive; she's proven to be a great liar. Aren't they all? I'm not sure anyone tells the truth on this program. monkeyhateclean 02-15-2008, 12:10 PM Since the freighties consider her to be "one of the natives", going to the ship without a trusted companion may be dangerous for her. kayo 02-15-2008, 02:50 PM I did think a little odd that Frank didn't even offer the remaining seat to her...she didn' t even come into play at all. We know that she was there because she brought Desmond but she seemed to be nowhere around when the seat came up for grabs. brermike 02-15-2008, 02:56 PM Sayid and Desmond were going to check out the freighter. Sayid is quite skeptical of them, and Desmond doesn't understand why they had a picture of him and Penny. They are looking for answers, first, not rescue. Once they say it is okay, I would then assume the rest of the Losties would want to get on the helicopter. Michelle67 02-15-2008, 03:17 PM Being with the others all this time has taught Juliette that things are not always what they seem. Trust isn't going to come easy to her. No matter how much she wants off that island I don't think she's just going to jump at the first opportunity until it's proven that the the rescuers are on the up and up. workingmom 02-15-2008, 03:26 PM I was surprised she didn't try to go too. She's done everything to get off the island, betrayed anyone & everyone, and yet she shows no interest in even discussing it. Maybe she has another plan up her sleeve, but since DOC she's been straightforward with the Losties. mmpd 02-15-2008, 03:34 PM Given all the doubts about the freighties, I think Juliet would be crazy to get on the chopper at this point. Sayid and Desmond are going to get answers. I don't think any of those on the island necessarily trust the freighties at this point. Jupiter63 02-20-2008, 02:32 AM I think she didn't go because the Freighties offered the seat to everyone but her. And she didn't bring herself into it when they didn't, probably because of their earlier bad reaction to her being a 'native'. If the seat had been offered, I don't know if she would have gone or not. We know she can take care of herself and she and Sayid aren't enemies like they were so I think it's likely. But the seat wasn't offered so she didn't cause potentially a problem over it. So, I guess I agree she was biding her time, but I don't think that was her first choice so much as it was her only good choice given the circumstances. heppamies 02-20-2008, 04:30 AM it's helicopter, not coptor she didn't go because she and jack were finishing off rest of the water bottles RodimusBen 02-20-2008, 08:50 AM I don't know if they would have let her anyway, since she was accused of being a "native." macgreagor 02-20-2008, 11:40 AM She knows it would be nothing but trouble for her, since she is known to be one of Ben's people. She is no dummy. For all we know she may still be working for Ben and plotting to help him yet. The Long Con. If Ben has a secret portal in his closet as some have suggested (Narnia?) maybe he used this as bait to get her to do his bidding with the promise of a quick exit when her work is done. Or that his "man" on the boat would make sure she gets off, no matter what happens. (4.8.15.16.23.42) 02-20-2008, 11:48 AM Maybe, like Charlotte, she still has work to do... *dun Dun DUN!* ExLob 02-20-2008, 11:50 AM Her char has killed to get off the island. She would've forced herself on that whirlybird by any means necessary. TPTB obviously have different plans for her. giulia_ricci 02-20-2008, 11:54 AM I don't know if they would have let her anyway, since she was accused of being a "native." Yes, I agree. And I believe too that Jack wouldn't let her go before being absolutely sure that it's "safe". macgreagor 02-20-2008, 05:50 PM I don't think Juliet would need Jack's permission to get on the helicopter--if she really wanted to go, she would go. Jack's feelings about it either way wouldn't deter her. She doesn't take orders from Jack, she lets him think she does. IMHO. shootingstar 02-20-2008, 08:50 PM I don't know if they would have let her anyway, since she was accused of being a "native." They were rude towards her after they found out that she was a "native" so I agree that they wouldn't have taken her. Besides I think that she would rather Sayid and Desmond check out what's up over at the freighter before jumping on board the helicopter. Jupiter63 02-20-2008, 08:54 PM Yes, I agree. And I believe too that Jack wouldn't let her go before being absolutely sure that it's "safe". I don't know if he would let her go alone considering the circumstances, but he wouldn't stop her from going if she wanted to. He's never stopped her from doing dangerous things if it was what she wanted to do- like going back to the beach with Sawyer or the dynamite scene. But she wasn't asked to go and the last time she was pulled into the issue with the Freighties, who was on the plane and the 'native' conversation, Jack stepped in to stop Miles attacking her. I think she realized it wouldn't be wise to step in and request the unoffered seat. Juliets_Muffin 02-24-2008, 10:02 AM I believe Juliet is still studying this group, attempting to learn about them. She is not going to rush off with a group that already knows she has a connection to someone they want and seem very upset with. Who knows what they would do to her on the freighter, after Miles practically exploded upon her being figured out to be a 'native'. Plus, I think she's sticking with Jack, not only out of falling for him, but protection. She's a strong woman, but not stupid. Juliet can use someone to guard her back, until she gets back home. Look who she has attempted to 'bond' with so far other then Jack...Sayid and Sawyer. Two strong men. Juliet is still 'working' her way off the island, however safe and slow. |
