In the scene when Kate is walking into court does the guyin the croud with the beard shout "You need to go back"? It's what it sounded like to me, anyone elese catch what he said?

Is that what he said? I noticed it, but didnt hear him. He reminded me of someone from Surivor. OK, I am going to rewind and check now...it kinda looks and sounds like Hurley, but I can't understand him....

I watched it agin and it still sounds like he says "You need to go back"only reason why I noticed him saying something is because they chose to kind of concentrate on him more than the rest of the crowd.

I had the same notion about this scene. That the Hurley-looking guy was yelling something we were supposed to notice. And "...go back" was what I thought I heard, too.

Remember when Locke said to Ben (about his book)" Maybe you should read it again, you might have missed something" I took this as a clue that we would have a "rewind" moment in this epi, maybe this is it?

When Kate was entering the courthouse, there were a lot of reporters asking questions and what not, but the thing that stood out to me was the one bearded man who was screaming at her.

No one else seemed to have a problem with Kate like that, and they seemed to stop on his face for a second so I believe we were supposed to notice him. Heres a screencap.

So whats the deal people? As you can see in the cap, his face is specifically less blurry than all the others. Who is he?

Just to knock out some of the time wasters, lets not say its skinny future Hurley, Gerald Degroot, or a drunk homeless man who happened to live on the steps of the federal courthouse.

This guy stood out the most to me also, could be a red herring though...

This was definitely something that stuck out to me as well. What reasons could he have for screaming at her? Is he related to Kate's step dad? Is he related to her crimes at all? Otherwise, whats with the anger?

I noticed him too, so he obviously was put there meaning to get noticed. He didn't look like part of the media to me ... like the other reporters and cameramen that were there. He struck me as a heckler, or a person staging a picketing or rally. Why would they be picketing Kate's trial?
I swear also he yelled something out, but I didn't catch it in my first viewing of the ep.

I thought he seemed over the top as well. Until proven otherwise, I'm going with he's a relative of Wayne's. Otherwise, why does he care??

This happens like 4 minutes into the show, it sounds like he says "We're gonna get you Ward!" Maybe, "We're going to get you off!" But I know that's not right. Does it show up in anyone's closed captions perhaps?

He was angry about her being a murderer, the way lots of random people -- people who in no way are related to the case -- get angry about alleged murderers.

According to another Lost website (I wont name it, because I dont know if I am allowed), but they reversed the audio and it sounds like the man is saying
"(first word is hard to make out)...we hate you".

call it paranoia but i swear i saw abbadon in the crowd around the same time as this bearded guy. i need to rewatch it tonight but if anyone has screen caps of all the people they showed i swear he was hiding in the crowd when they panned thru....keeping an eye on the O6...

The guy is definitely saying "We Hate You" to Kate - backwards!!! :undecide:

This would be the first backwards speech that we have heard off the island. This could be a huge clue.

Does anyone know the actual meaning of all the backwards speaking? I know it shows up from time to time, but have TPTB made any comments about it?

I think TBTB acknowledged the importance of the whispers, but I haven't seen or heard them address the backwards speaking on the show.

If you slow the scene down to a frame by frame scenario you can make out what he says. He says,

"We hate you Kate, you ate all the Dharma-O's!"

This is probably way off, but is it possible that he's the same guy who intercepted the Oceanic commercial they were playing a couple weeks ago? He looks a little more crazed than I remember, but maybe a little time has elapsed since his "tv debut." Am I way off? Thats EXACTLY what I heard. But yea, his speech was reversed. Im just trying to figure out how.. "we're gonna get you off" (no pun intended ; ) lol), reversed.. sounds like "we hate you", which it did.
