When Miles tells Ben "I'll take care of Charlotte," I bet he kills her. I don't see Miles as the type to trust people, especially when there's a lot of money at stake. Miles also made a comment earlier this season that "they" were paying him a lot of money to find Ben. This in addition to his flashback of taking money out of the kid's bedroom makes me think Miles will do anything it takes to secure his money, even if it means killing.

Do you think Miles ends up killing Charlotte?

Yea Miles will probally kill her. He seems like he would do anything for money.

On another thread we're speculating that the whole extortion racket was a show for Kate's benefit. 3.2 is some type of protocol, 2 days is a timeline of sorts. Makes sense, how could he expect the money so quick while Ben is obviously indisposed. Plus, Miles got to have a big speech about secret codes when he first showed up on the island. Yeah, he's greedy and ruthless, but that's just the type of person Ben would have working for him.

I think there's definitely more to Ben and Miles' conversation, but I think Miles meant the line about Charlotte despite whatever they were really talking about. I think Miles tends to take out whoever gets in his way and if that means killing then so be it. Remember in last weeks episode when he said "define care" when Sayid asked about Charlotte, Miles doesnt care about any of them, he's there for himself. Hopefully he doesnt kill her though, I like her.

I'd like to know if he's such a money-grabber for more than just senseless greed. What is up with Miles? Does he owe someone? Or is he really just trying to get as much money as possible so that he can buy a yatch or 3?

I go two ways about it, Miles is just a hustler way, way over his head who thinks he can work all the angles and will either kill Charlotte or convince her to stay quiet. If this is true Ben and the losties have a means to drive a wedge between the freighties.
I can also see that this is an effort by the freighties to manipulate Ben. For the freighties to be more evil than Ben they have to outsmart him at some point and this is a part of it.

Either way he'll be dead real soon since I doubt anyone (esspecially in a weakened state) could hold something as big as a grenade in their mouth for very long... Unless its a dud, of course, but how would Locke know?

I actually posted this thread before that scene. When I saw Locke put the grenade in Miles' mouth I thought to myself, "Miles might not even get the chance to kill Charlotte." :D I don't think Miles will die, yet anyway. I'm hoping they resolve this issue with the money first.

What makes you think Miles will even get the money??

I think everything said between them was code. Miles is telling Ben 3.2 instead of 3.4 on purpose. Ben doublechecks. "Why not 3.3 or 3.4?" Maybe it's a bearing. But Miles had to see Ben in person to get his message to him, whatever it was.

I don't think Miles has it in him to kill anybody... he's more bark than bite. Way more. And let's not assume that Miles just wants the 3.2 mil, because he likes money. There's probably a lot more to it.

Taking care of Charlotte can only mean a couple of things, convincing her somehow to keep the secret along with him that Ben is dead, or killing her. If Ben works with Miles and agrees to his blackmail then we will see which one it is!

It's hard to say what's up with Miles yet, we don't know enough about him. My guess is that he's mostly talk, and using the losties' fear of the freighties for his own power trip. It's odd that he asks for such an odd amount of money. There's definitely some kind of story behind the 3.2 million.

Yeah, I think that Miles is Ben's 'man on the boat'

Or was, even...

There definitely is something going on beneath the surface.
If Miles was only double-crossing the people who hired him to find Ben, 3.2 million is an odd emount of money to ask for. Why not 3.0? Why not 3.5? It's a natural tendency to think in even amounts of money.
So either it is some kind of code and Miles is truly Ben's man on the boat.
Or Miles is out on some sort of personaly revenge agenda. Like, somebody who was cheated out of a certain amount of money (say, 3.2 million dollars) and who got the chance to get back at the guy who cheated him out of that money, might just ask for pecisely that amount.
But I'm convinced there is a lot more going on between those two than we know now.

To go back to the initial question of this thread - I agree with the poster who said that Miles seems to be more bark than bite. But I wouldn't put it past him that he might kill somebody to get his own personal agenda done. He'd probably search for a different way to deal with the problem first, but if it came dow nto it I think he has it in him.

What makes everyone think Miles would necessarily succeed in killing Charlotte?

Maybe Charlotte might end up killing Miles first, in self-defense (so to speak)?

"Take care of Charlotte" could mean convince her Ben is dead or con her into it. Either way Miles is in way over his head.
