View Full Version : No Sex for Sawyer
Jack Sawyer 02-21-2008, 11:08 PM Burn. And she was in your bed. I think we know where Kate's hearts at. Now, and in the future. I liked how in the FF's she'll gladly keep seeing Jack if he'd only accept that she's got a kid. Makes you wonder what his problem is with Aaron? Is he weird like Walt?
Anyways, that was a little off topic. Kate in your bed, Sawyer; no finishing move. Burn. Poor Sawyer though. He was great in this episode, and I thought Josh did a excellent job. I loved how when he delivered that line [paraphrase] "give it a week and Jack'll do something wrong and you'll come back to me." He looked so pleased with himself for thinkin of it/saying it, and then Boom! SLAP!
Terrific episode in every respect. Propr to Gregg (and Sarnoff).

It wasn`t Sawyer`s kid it was Claire`s.
Jack Sawyer 02-21-2008, 11:13 PM It wasn`t Sawyer`s kid it was Claire`s.
Thanks, my mistake. This just dawned on me cuz I never made out the name (we heard Eric). Anyways, I'm going to change that part, cuz it really had nothing to do with my post anyhow.
LostLaura 02-21-2008, 11:15 PM Pretty sure they had sex at night, but not in the morning. Unless I misunderstood.
GettinLost 02-21-2008, 11:17 PM I thought it was pretty telling for him to get the smack after his remark. It means he struck a nerve with Kate. She knows what he says to be true. After all - it IS true. Pissed at Jack - sleep with Sawyer. Pissed with Sawyer - run to Jack. You can yank a person's chain just so many times...
I do give creds to Kate for telling Jack that until he can face Aaron she won't be seeing him. Good for her!
elfdream 02-21-2008, 11:21 PM I think Kate finally made a choice and it was neither one of them.
ForeverLost19 02-21-2008, 11:28 PM According to the last writers' podcast (I just got caught up), they claim that she does wind up with one of them.
I'm still hoping for Sawyer!
LostLaura 02-21-2008, 11:32 PM In the FF, she does seem to have "chosen" Aaron over anyone else. Even herself.
Jack Sawyer 02-21-2008, 11:34 PM Pretty sure they had sex at night, but not in the morning. Unless I misunderstood.
I had assumed that too. That it had happened the night before, and now he was hoping for some morning glory, but then he said something to indicate otherwise. Something like, "you passed out on me last night" or something to that effect.
Elf: Seems to me Kate was willing to see Jack, for coffee, or to "come over", but she insisted that he accept her as a mother of one (very special child?). Special or not, she seemed fairly receptive to the notion of seeing Jack, which is quite a different picture than the TTLG flashforward where she's very nearly repulsed by his obsessive behaviour.
Diesels Blitz 02-21-2008, 11:38 PM I thought Sawyer said they didn't go all the way the night before.
After all - it IS true. Pissed at Jack - sleep with Sawyer. Pissed with Sawyer - run to Jack.
Yep, and Sawyer nailed it! He has her all figured out. I'm glad he's finally catching on to her game.
Kate731 02-21-2008, 11:38 PM Yeah, they didn't have sex at all.
Actually, this episode really redeemed Kate for me. She is finally thinking and being smart here. If she had had sex again, with the pregnancy death-thread hovering over her, I think I would have lost respect for her forever.
Poor Sawyer though. He does try, and she doesn't treat him very well. But then again, he let's her do this.

Something like, "you passed out on me last night" or something to that effect. Oh that line was a little muffled, but yeah, he did say that, you're right.

Clearly a lot of time has passed from tihs FF to then Hurley's FF to then Jack's FF. She is now disgusted by him/disappointed in him heartedly. If he refuses to see Aaron (his nephew, which he must know by now somehow), then she can't be a part of his life in any way. But obviously during this FF, there is still interest/love.
Yeah, they didn't have sex at all.

I still have a LOT of questions about her character. What is she doing with Aaron? Is it totally selfless? It's hard for me to trust/like the O6 when so far we know that they are LYING about their friends. What if the others are all still alive? Why did the O6 abandon them? The whole thing is effed up, and I don't know how to feel about them character-wise, morally, etc.
Plus, I am not happy about Kate SMACKING Sawyer like that. Sure, in S1, they would literally beat up on each other (hello WTCMB), but now? After all this? To smack him that hard? WTF Kate?
lostnthesoutheast 02-22-2008, 12:43 AM You know, I really think that we were supposed to think that Kate was getting her monthly visit from Aunt Flo. She clearly showered (her hair was wet) before coming to visit Sawyer. She didn't want to go all the way, yet she was all about being close and intimate. Then on top of that, she seemed pretty certain that she wasn't pregnant. There is only one thing that can provide that sort of reassurance (although even that isn't always correct). She was with Sawyer at least once a week every week since returning from the Hydra, I'd say that it's about time for her to be getting her period (or not getting it).

Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one that got that from that scene.
avandelay 02-22-2008, 12:53 AM Sawyer won't be lonely for long. Obviously Claire lets Kate take the baybay off the island so that she (Claire) can stay behind and play house with Sawyer.
ozieozwall 02-22-2008, 12:57 AM Kate is a user. Sawyer was already used by Kate to get Miles together with Ben. Sawyer threw in the curve ball about Jack because he knew when she turned him down for sex that he'd messed up. It would be like "Ok Freckles, first we do it then I play Locke for the sucker and ... If your going to be used - use first then get used...errrr something like that... Duh I think Kate's panties were the new not the original one's she was wearing.

I agree completely. In fact I thought it was fairly obvious that she was alluding to the fact that she was on her period. That's why she wouldn't have sex and that's how she knew she wasn't pregnant. I didn't think she was being redeeming or careful, just a little menstrual.

That could really explain the slap as well!
Flotsam 02-22-2008, 06:56 AM Damn, Josh Holloway was SMOKIN' in those boxers! Unh!

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about that, but I definitely agree. I liked Kate overall in this episode, but the slap was out of line. (I have a pet peeve about gender double standards that cause no one to bat an eye when a woman slaps a man... but if Sawyer had slapped her it would have been a big deal).
I think Kate had her period as well (or had before, as her reasons for staying seemed to concern Miles more than thinking she was pregnant). But, I still see her as not having sex because she was smartening up about the fact that it could kill her.
GettinLost 02-22-2008, 01:56 PM But, I still see her as not having sex because she was smartening up about the fact that it could kill her.
You know, I also thought she could have been a little ticked that he didn't care about her any more than that - that they would just keep having sex and cheating time. I mean he knows if she gets pregnant she will die - so why is he pushing for sex again?? Doesn't he care enough about her to "restrain" himself? And I'm a Sawyer fan through and through - so - I might be calling him on this one myself!
monkeypoo 02-22-2008, 02:02 PM You would think that with all the crazy provisions that the island mysteriously is stocked with that someone, just someone would ask for/find some condoms?? Or some birth control pills?? People have needs godammit!!!

Word! Dang, given the fertility/birth issues there, you'd think they'd have dispensers hanging off the trees...
Boy was Kate confusing-- sort of a tease, really. I suspect there's lots we don't know about what's going on with her, but still. Sheesh!
Agree about the double-standard on slaps, btw-- excellent point.
granvilleny2006luvslost 02-22-2008, 03:25 PM Is it me or is Kate INSANE! Hmm, let me think-Sawyer (lookin hotter than ever) in bed waiting for me, in our cute little house on a deserted island! Sounds like paradise to me! I nearly fell off the couch when it should him in bed in those boxers! Leave all that-NEVER!

My thoughts EXACTLY!!!

There's no evidence that Sawyer knows that pregnant women on the island die. He wasn't there when Juliet told Kate and Jack (in OoU) and it wasn't mentioned on the tape that he got from Locke. We've never seen Kate, or anyone else, telling Sawyer that. And if he did know, I think he would have mentioned it last night as another good reason for being happy that Kate wasn't pregnant.

Thank you. Someone else thinks this too. I thought it was quite obvious that she was having her visit. Besides a pregnancy test what else would make a woman "really sure" she isn't pregnant?
workingmom 02-22-2008, 04:38 PM OK, people. Does it have to be a mom to remind you that there are other ways to have sex? So if Kate had wanted to, having her time of the month wouldn't have been an obstacle for these two, I can imagine.
lostmio 02-22-2008, 04:39 PM Actually, this episode really redeemed Kate for me.
Me, too... and I loved the Sawyer smackdown. He asked for it by implying her life was all about him and Jack. She had bigger concerns, like her fugitive status. Having that hanging over your head can be a libido-killer..
Sawyer asks her to stay and play house with him, knowing that the only reason she'd do so is to avoid jail. Not a hot move, in my book... she knows that at best she'd just be a bird in a more gilded cage.
Aggie00 02-22-2008, 04:48 PM I still feel for Sawyer. Of course, this is coming from a guy. Imagine a hot chick like Kate coming up into your bed with those eyes that say "Hey big guy, I want some of that!" and then nothing. It's like build up, build up, build up, then wah, wah, wahhh. Sawyer's soldier has to be feeling frustrated at this point. Man, what a bummer!
tman662006 02-22-2008, 05:01 PM When is ol' Jack gonna get some action?? Sawyer is getting plenty, Its Jack's turn.
quangtran 02-22-2008, 07:15 PM Josh made the comment in an interview as to "why everyone think it's only Kate's choice" in regards to the triangle. I'd love it if both men get sick of her flip-flopping and both tell her to just go away.
quizzical 02-23-2008, 12:09 AM I see people theorizing that Kate didn't want to sleep with Sawyer because of her period. But it seemed to me that Kate didn't become uncomfortable with the snuggling until Sawyer held her arm down. The the camera specifically focused on how he gripped her wrist and held it to the bed. Then Kate immediately acted to free herself and get out of the room - she became defensive, hostile, and even backhanded Sawyer across the cheek. She wanted space between herself and Sawyer, and as soon as possible.
I think this is more evidence that Kate was sexually or physically abused by Wayne. I know Kate has claimed that Wayne never touched her, but I've always felt there was something more there. This episode reminds us that Kate murdered Wayne - coupled with that is always the question of Kate's motivation. Was it just about her abused mother? Was it only because Kate reacted so badly to finding out that Wayne was her real father? Like I said, I'm not convinced.
