It's been a long time since I studied the old testament and I have to admit that I forgot something even more significant in the whole Rachel story... Rachel dies while giving birth to her second son. His name is Benjamin and he is also the son of Jacob.

We have tried to make some connection with Juliet's sister, Rachel, with "Jacob" for a while relating it to scripture but nothing really ties together to make sense. It has to be there somewhere! Great find on the Queen of diamonds - I didn't know that one!

Okay... In the bible, Rachel is the favored wife of JACOB even though initially she can't bear children... We all remember Kate seeing the horse from her past. Has Claire ever had a moment where the island showed her something? I can't remember one.

If the symbolism that I see here is correct; I think that Kate has a bond with the island that Claire doesn't... even if she doesn't know it.

So maybe Kate is barren?

Continuing with my freakout... I just placed a cross-continent call to a friend I used to share a house with in Oregon. He is the only person I have ever been close to that was into astrology. Following my awkward admission that my call was prompted by a TV show, I asked him for a brief summary of his impression of what the Queen of Diamonds represents. After a long-winded disclaimer about my question having no context, he relented and said that the Queen of Diamonds represents a tendency to be self-serving (not to be confused with selfishness) and pragmatic in dealings with the world while exhibiting a short-sighted view of their role in life.

Wow.

Does anyone who knows about astrology have any input about this? It sounds like Kate to me.

LL, briefly, in that book/movie, a man was brainwashed while held prisoner (mind control, whatever you want to call it) into being an assasin, and the trigger to cue him into action was the Queen of Diamonds card. He was a "sleeper", meaning that he was brainwashed, released out into society and expected to carry out his mission. But read the wiki (and see the 1962 movie) for a better description. The TV show *MASH* did an outstanding epi that was loosely based on it.

I'm sure these 2 things (QOD and "sleeper" comment) were deliberately in the epi; now as to whether they were intended literally is another thing altogether.

Dan was the fifth child of Jacob, but Rachel was not his mother. Dan's mother was Rachel's handmaiden. I don't think that's intentional though. Maybe when they figure out how to fit Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, etc. into the storyline, we might have something.;)

The women looks like Rachel, Juliets sister. Also the women had the same illness Jacks wife had. But according lostpedia the womens name is Mrs.Arlen and the boy is eight years old. But the boy is holding up five fingers, I think its a clue not a wave.
