View Full Version : Finally an answer to a finale question! Aaron is him!
LostLaura 02-21-2008, 11:25 PM I was right! hee.
Kate had to get back to Aaron (in the FF scene in TTLG). Some time has clearly passed, and Aaron will have become old enough to be worrying where his mommy went. He must have been left at home with his nanny/housekeeper lady. And since Jack won't see him, she is obviously upset and angry with Jack.
Just felt that needed to be confirmed. I guess there is still a chance people won't agree so I wanted to have a thread for that.
This brings into question: if there is a chance Claire is still alive, does Jack want to get back there because of her (and the others), and Kate won't because she won't give up Aaron? It's all very confusing.

Totally agree, thats what I was thinking as soon as she said she had a son!!
jennylee27 02-21-2008, 11:46 PM Yes, Aaron is him! And since this was after the trial, Aaron could be 3 or 4, certainly old enough to wonder where his mommy was.
It's not so shocking a reveal that it's a kid, just who the kid is....
Margalit 02-21-2008, 11:50 PM So do we think that Jack now (that is, in the future) knows that Aaron is his nephew? And, if so, how might he have found out?
allergygal 02-21-2008, 11:51 PM So many people thought the "he" at the end of last season was going to be Kate's child and I was so sure they were wrong. Shows how much I know. :D
I don't think Kate stole the baby. Jack wouldn't have been so nice with Kate in the FF is that were the case. Also, on the island she said she isn't good with babies and didn't even want to pick him up. So I figured that either Claire is dead or she passed Aaron to Kate to save him as she was leaving the island.
Jack not wanting to see Aaron is probably because it's too much of an upsetting reminder of the people they left behind.
Pulpy Austinite 02-21-2008, 11:53 PM Aaron looked like he was retarded. anyone notice that?
lostchild 02-21-2008, 11:55 PM So do we think that Jack now (that is, in the future) knows that Aaron is his nephew? And, if so, how might he have found out?
Yes! I totally think that's what their last conversation was about tonight. I don't know how Jack discovers it's his nephew, but I do think
Claire Dies. I spoiler fonted my theory just in case, it's just MO, I don't know if it's true or not, but because of that, I think it's revealed somehow that Jack and Claire were half-siblings.
Tachyon 02-21-2008, 11:57 PM so, finding out who kate's "him" was, i feel like, is the ONLY reveal the show has given us on any of the finales. we still don't know what walt is up to, nor exactly how the purple flash worked or on what it worked.
granted, who kate's "him" was wasn't THE cliffhanger question like the other two are, but the 3rd's finale wasn't really a "why the hell did that happen and what is it?"
LostLaura 02-22-2008, 12:03 AM Aaron looked like he was retarded. anyone notice that?
The first angle of him, it did seem like that. But it must have just been a weird/bad angle, because then when we really saw his face, he clearly wasn't.
Yeah, Kate must not have stolen Aaron. It makes no sense. Jack would have nothing to do with her if that's the case....
Sawyers Mojito 02-22-2008, 12:03 AM Aaron looked like he was retarded. anyone notice that?
what??? no he didn't. he was just sleepy
imaaronsmom 02-22-2008, 12:04 AM Aaron looked like he was retarded. anyone notice that?
At first I did think he was developmentally delayed, when we saw his face from the side. But then after he finished rubbing his face, I didn't think so. I looked pretty close, in the end I didn't think so.
Bella 02-22-2008, 12:06 AM By the time last quarter of the show, my mom and I were pretty sure it was going to be Aaron -- but it didn't take away from the gasp-inducing moment when we actually found out.
Bella 02-22-2008, 12:08 AM Woo hoo! Sooo glad that Kate didn't have a SKate baby -- but I'm sad at the implications of her raising Aaron. What happened to Claire???
briar910 02-22-2008, 12:10 AM I was right! hee.

I definitely agree that that is why Kate is upset with Jack in TTLG because she is clearly open to having a relationship with him and they are still friendly in this flashforward. So in TTLG, Jack has never gone to see Aaron with Kate? Now I want to know why Jack refuses to see Aaron if he still loves Kate...
I wonder how old Aaron is in the flash-forward with bearded Jack? A kid can "wonder where she is" at almost any age, but somehow this seems significant. Probaby isn't, but I gotta wonder how far in the future that FF was.
LostLaura 02-22-2008, 12:11 AM briar, I think he might know that Aaron is his nephew. And if Claire is dead, he must feel terrible. And he just can't get up the balls to do it, I guess. ?
jennylee27 02-22-2008, 12:13 AM So do we think that Jack now (that is, in the future) knows that Aaron is his nephew? And, if so, how might he have found out?
I'm really not sure. He could still be wracked with guilt over leaving her and/or others behind. I think we know Jack well enough for it to be plausible that he is having a savior complex about the people on the island, especially if they did not choose to remain behind.
lostorfound 02-22-2008, 12:23 AM Thought it was interesting that through the whole episode Kate referred to Aaron as "him" or "MY son" until she spoke to Jack. With Jack she used "the baby"

that totally messed with me for a second, cause i had a short lived theory that jack and kate had a child. But of course, the last minute of the epi totally debunked that. But then, Jack would be the only one who knew who aaron really belonged to, and that's why she maybe felt she could refer to him as "the baby". As opposed to her lawyer.
then again, maybe the pronoun game was just to throw us off until the final reveal!
antiquearmy 02-22-2008, 12:28 AM for some reason, the second she mentioned her son, i just knew it had to be aaron. then the clue of her not wanting to take care of him plus the blond hair on her son gave it away. that confirms that desmonds vision came true atleast for aaron, it will be interesting to see what happened to claire and how kate ended up with aaron.
LostMyMarbles 02-22-2008, 12:45 AM I don't think we can assume at all that we know the identity of hellbewonderingwhereiam. It may be Aaron. It may not.
Tachyon 02-22-2008, 12:46 AM i don't know, how old would you say the child is? 2? 3?
old enough to say "mommy" and not sleep in a crib.
i know trials can take a long time, but wouldn't they deal with kate kind of soon after she returned back to the real world?
Jedierica 02-22-2008, 12:50 AM for some reason, the second she mentioned her son, i just knew it had to be aaron. then the clue of her not wanting to take care of him plus the blond hair on her son gave it away. that confirms that desmonds vision came true atleast for aaron, it will be interesting to see what happened to claire and how kate ended up with aaron.
Kate did give birth to Aaron on the Island. I can see where she would take care of him if something happend to her mom. The other obvious choice to raise Aaron would be Sun and Jinn. With Sun having her own baby and wanting to raise her child back in Korea, raising orphaned Aaron would be difficult. Of course none of us really know what is going to happen to any one the rest of this season or the next seasons. Circumstances with everyone in Othersville and the Beach is going to change.
Shillelagh61 02-22-2008, 02:48 AM Kate did give birth to Aaron on the Island. I can see where she would take care of him if something happend to her mom. .
That was Claire that gave birth to Aaron on the Island. We don't know yet if this baby is a different Aaron. I'm guessing he's Claire's Aaron.
I'd guess he's Claire's Aaron, too. Unless something happened to Claire & Aaron, so Kate named her own baby in their honor? But that messes up the time-line. How long after returning did the trial start? And was she arrested upon arrival in the states? Nah, I think it's Claire's baby, and Kate is bringing him up for her.
But listen...how do we KNOW it's the answer to the question of "He'll be wondering where I am"? Yes, it could be Aaron, but "he" could also mean someone else...someone who hadn't returned home by the time Kate got there and talked to the nanny/babysitter. It probably IS the answer, but I'm just saying....it's dangerous to "assume" anything when it comes to our favorite show. :)
MysteryFan 02-25-2008, 06:45 PM So many people thought the "he" at the end of last season was going to be Kate's child and I was so sure they were wrong.
Your post got me thinking of reasons why Kate would have Aaron. It doesn't make sense for her to steal Aaron unless she was trying to take Claire's identity to hide from the law, which obviously didn't happen.
So I wonder. . .Could this be Ben's manipulation? If Aaron is special, maybe he has a connection to Jacob or something, and if he's a threat to Ben's dominance, maybe Ben exiled Aaron. I seem to remember Ben happy to see Walt leave, as if Walt was a threat also.
We don't have reason yet to believe Aaron is special, other than his crying when Charlie died. And he was the obsession of the Australian psychic and of the Others (when he received a battery of prenatal injections). We don't really know why -- but he does seem to be important to the story.
Ben could have kept Claire hostage on the island to encourage the 06 to follow his orders. Which may be why dead Charlie is insisting that Hurley helps them. This idea presumes Ben is wielding an awful lot of power over our Losties. It makes me think back to that last things Sayid said in the previous episode, about how Ben used information to recruit him to become an assassin. It seems Ben is capable of anything.
