I know it will seem rather obvious, but there sure is a LOT of hostage-taking, hostage-tying, hostage-locking-up-in-room, hostage-trading and hostage-negotiating/extorting going on. Everyone is either doing it or has done it: the Others, the Dharma people, the 815ers, the Tailies (remember them?)and most of all, the Island itself... no one is above it. Everyone seems to go along with it. Only Hurley protested "That's not what I signed up for" when Locke took Charlotte hostage. I boldly predict (!) that the Freighter-folk will be joining the club very soon. I guess I understand it's a symbol of captivity, but isn't it just a bit too frequent for comfort?

The same kind of thought flashed through my head -- All this violence! All this drama!

But then I thought: 1) The Island would be a very stressful place, and the situations these people find themselves in may warrant hostage-taking, 2) There are a lot of really intense people on the Island, and 3) This is a TV drama.
