The whole Kate-Jack-Sawyer triangle has gotten way too soap opera. Been there, seen it, bored... Wouldn't you rather see more about Desmond and Penelope and her connection (or not) to the Freighter-folk? Notice that when Desmond demanded of Miles that he tell what he knew about Penelope, Miles just didn't answer? Desmond and Penelope are a much more interesting story of love lost, and they both are so much more grown-up about things than our whiny-adolescents-in-30-something-bodies Kate, Sawyer and Jack.

So true - I've been debating with my dad whether LOST is a soap opera or not. This episode did nothing to support my case that it's not.

ITA. I cannot stand watching soap opery scenes on Lost. And I've watched smoother executed sex scenes on General Hospital than this clumsily filmed one between Skate. One of the close up camera shots actually looked blurry. And they must have had to break a few times while filming because Sawyer's hair looked messed up. In every scene (after Kate said she wasn't preggers) his hair never quite looked the same. Although I don't catch some of the very interesting (important) Easter eggs, much to my chagrin I do notice dumb ittle details like hairdos. silly me. Perhaps they had to break a lot in filming cuz the actors were laughing so hard. <shrug>

It's part soap opera, of course. You didn't know that? Almost every drama show has a soap opera aspect. Or you don't watch anything else?

To me it appears everytime Kate looks at Jack/Sawyer, someone has to come to this board and make a thread "soap opera". It's getting old. Almost as overused as "jumped the shark."

Love is part of our and the losties' life. And you can't even say that the writers did alot of romance. Apart from the first chunk of S3, and a few scenes here and there, it's been a long time since any romance, let alone, sex scene.

It's getting old because the triangle is getting old. It is hard to watch a show and appreciate kate when she's acting like that.
The same story again and again. Why the hell kate was angry at sawyer by the way???
It is really hard to root for someone like her.

:) sorry that somebody's soap opera thread upsets you. And yes I hate that jumped shark term myself...almost as much as I hate the overuse of the word - amazing.

Yes its lovely to see Lost have some romance but lets see some romance. There should be romance. Not just sex scenes although I realize thats all we're going to get with Skate.

IMHO sex scenes can be rather boring unless I happen to be physically involved in one myself .

sex can be romantic too. The sex scene in "I do" was very powerful and well done...I don't understand what happened after.

Please re-watch season 1...

While in the long run a soapy element was probably unavoidable, it's a BAD soap opera full of loopholes, too. Can't really imagine someone older than 18 feeling a lot of electricity here. Hell Claire and Charlie had more.

Well said. Although I don't think it is a Soap Opera just because of the love triangle thingy .. Do the people complaining don't want our Losties to have a lovelife? Just plain action, mystery & running?

Romance is one aspect of Lost and without it i think this show will be less appealing. Just imagine no ships: no "Jate", no "Skate", no Charlie & CLaire, no Jin & Sun ..:drowsy:

You're just wasting your time complaining about it because it will always be a part of Lost, like it or not.

I don't think it's the romance that's "Soap Operaish" It's the fact that there has been no resolution or even a hint of it. It just goes on and on and on and.... No matter how beautiful Kate is you'd think that the boys would just say ENOUGH

The scenes between Kate and Sawyer did seem forced and this was by far the worst episode of the season so far but I still have hope. I think that a lot of watchers get hung up on this trio for whatever reason so this episode was to serve as an end to the Sawyer-Kate relationship. I would've rathere had other pressing questions answered but whatever, it's a TV show. It has its ups and downs.

Don't forget how awesome "Confirmed Dead" was. No soapy nonsense in that.

I wouldn't mind the triangle so much if they wrote it in a more grown up way.

Kate licking spoons and having sex with Sawyer because she's jeallous of Juliet and crying while she's doing it, is just so... 90210!

I mean even Sawyer's line "I'm cool we didn't go all the way last night" was so high school...

I just don't find it believable.

They're playing up the relationship with this much relevance so that they can wrap up the series with the Adam and Eve skeletons in the cave. It's integral.

I find it to be tiring. It's inevitable that relationships will develop but the way it's being portrayed does nothing to further the story. I understand that a segment of the audience is going to want romance, but why does it have to be this ridiculous triangle.

There was no explanation for why she was so pissed off at him either!
