In the S4 opener we hear Minkowski on the phone. And in CD Minkowski tells Daniel to take him off speaker.

Then at some point Regina takes over the communications while a situation is ocurring on the freighter. We don't hear from Minkowski anymore . . . ODD.

So in TE Lapidus tells Daniel, as he hands him the phone, that if Minkowski gets on to hang up right away. ODD.

Then in E'town they can't even get in touch with the freighter on the "normal" number. ODD.

What the heck's going on here?!

I'm confused as to what's going on myself. For some reason I thought it was odd that Regina answered when they called the different number. I guess I assumed that line was for someone else, someone "higher up."

Either hes the spy for Ben and has got caught or he's too important for the Losties to talk to.

We still don't know who Minkowski is, but I'm betting that he's with what Lapidus called "management" and thus could be part of a group of nastier Freighter people I will call Freighter-Nasties (of whom Naomi was a part and who all are connected to Mr. Abbadon). It is very possible there is open conflict between the Freighter-folk and the Freighter-Nasties -- and guess who would win that little competition?

Someone must have captured him or something. The last time we heard from him was when Dan confirmed they had got on the island. Maybe Ben's spy wanted to make sure they got on the island and then captured Minkowski, I dunno why though.

Who did Charlotte say didn't answer the main line? I thought she said Cindy...

I'll agree with the assessement that the Freightie Four (Lapidus, Charlotte, Faraday, and Miles) aren't on the same page with Minkowski (who along with Naomi are probably management). Lapidus in particular doesn't seem inclined to want to talk to Minkowski much, Charlotte and Faraday want to stay on the Island, and Miles is willing to extort $3.2 mil out of Ben in order to lie to "management" about Ben's fate. Minkowski's agenda is probably a bit more ruthless than what we've seen from the rest of the Freighties so far.

I agree that it seems there is some turmoil taking place on the boat--I hope (and quite frankly expect) we will get to see first hand what is happening on the other side of the "fancy phone" in a future epi. My guess is that Ben's spy and/or Michael and/or Walt could be causing havoc...

Just FYI - since we've already heard Minkowski's voice, you don't have to use spoiler font anymore if you want to mention Fisher Stevens. :)

I think Regina is the mole. I though that since Regina awnsered the phone and said "He can't come to the phone"(or something similar) because it sounded like she meant "...because I have him tied up". Plus Zoe Bell is Regina, and she kicks ***, so she has to be and awesome character (think female Mikail)

lapidus wanted daniel to "just keep it to the science stuff" and therefore added that he should hang up if minkowski would pick up. so i guess minkowski isn´t a member of the science-group. still weird though - daniel could still ask mink to pass him to regina who seems to be the science-partner on the freighter...
i guess lapidus was afraid that if mink got on the phone, he would ask questions about the rest of the group and lapidus didn´t want to answer that until sayid and miles are back from there little rescue-quest. at least this is the only reasonable explanation i have.

Anyway, the whole reason I brought this up is becasue if everybody's freinds here and its simply a rescue mission then why all the paranoid secrecy?

I can understand that Minkowski would want to be taken off speaker and talk in private but to hang up now when he answers seems really strange if we're all friends here. Know what I mean?

Jack should really be getting nervous that Daniel admitted that they weren't here to rescue the 815ers. That proves Charlie, Locke and Ben right. So then the helicopter doesn't make almost a day later?????

My theory is that Minkowski simply left the phone to go talk with whoever is giving orders to the Freighties, and he told Regina to assume the job of remaining in correspondence with Faraday/Miles/Charlotte/Lapidus.

Of course, Regina can't actually admit that to her Freightie peers over the comm phone, due to the risk that some of the Losties might overhear. So Faraday/Charlotte are playing dumb in front of the Losties and pretending they don't know where Minkowski went (or why Regina isn't answering the main line)...even though they probably suspect that Minkowski is off chatting with their "bosses."
