When Jack said this about Locke it struck me that those words could cut both ways. He did hold a gun to Locke's head and pull the trigger twice. Given the evidence to the contrary he accepted the freighties as rescuers. It also shows that his conflict with Locke isn't about whether the freighties are good or evil it's between two men with big egos who dislike each other. I wonder if anyone else had come forward besides Locke and voiced the same concerns about the freighties would Jack have listened? If Hurley had spoken before Locke would Jack have listened? I think not because Jack convinced himself that the freighter means rescue. Of course nothing is that simple. I like that not everyone in Team Jack or Team Locke is behind them completely. We saw it with Hurley and Locke last week and Sun this week. He doesn't know what he's doing seemed like a little insensitive to say to Sun given that she is A. pregnant on an island where pregnant women die and B. If that wasn't enough has to worry about the safety of her baby from the island birth effect and possible danger from the freighties. She wanted some kind of reassurance and Jack's words just said, "I'm right don't ask questions." Way to go Sun for voicing those suspicions, she's not the type of character to let that lie. But Jack is starting to have his suspicions of the freighties. I'm not knocking the character I think it's great and a credit to Matthew Fox that he can bring out Jack's negative qualities and still make him sympathetic. Nor am I saying Locke's approach is better, he cares for his people just being dictatorial. I think the only thing Locke is right about is that the freighties are a threat, he seems to be going about it the wrong way. Although shoving a grenade in Miles' mouth is good way to humble him.
