Hi. I searched the forums and didn't see these questions. If they are there secretly hidden I'm sorry for the duplicates.

1.) Why did Kate leave the island if she knew she would be going to jail?
Sawyer was right, all that was waiting for her if she got back were a pair of handcuffs, so why did she go back? She's a smart girl and knew this, so why?

2.) Why was Kate so concerned what Miles knew about her?
I can't understand why she cared so much. I mean she was so wanted by the law that the US Marshal followed her to Australia. I'm sure people knew about her.

3.) Why did they make Kate the hero?
Was this to try to protect her once she got off the island? I'm not getting it.

OK. Thanks for reading. Any insights you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

I dont think it was 100% planned out right after being rescued. I think they had the main outline of their story. Something happens to Claire so even though Kate knew she would be going to jail, she knew she had to get Aaron off the island because she knew that is what Claire wanted. Kate also knew that she would probably be arrested immediately and the only way Kate could keep Aaron and not have him put in foster care, or worse, sent to Claires Aunt was to say he is Kates biological son. I belive after the O6 land and move on with thier lives, as other survivors are questioned about anything any other survivor claims, they go with it. Most of all, any story that keeps Aaron with Kate.

But I cannot figure out why it is originally so important for Kate to find out what they know about her. She is not stupid enough to think all the charges against her that would send a Marshall after her, would simply be forgotten.

I think Kate is lucky that the losties did not figure out the amazing healing powers before she conned sawyer to shoot the marshall. I think the marshall would have amazingly healed within a couple of days.

The only one of your questions that I can offer an opinion on is what Kate was curious about Miles' knowledge of who she was. If the freighties knew nothing about the individual Losties, then perhaps she could take on an assumed name, lay low, and run again once the freighter docked. Of course, Kate used her own name on the sat phone one time, so one can assume the freighties took a special interest in finding out all they could about her.

I agree, I think the only reason why she became so interested was because she wanted to know how known she was from the plane wreck. If they didn't know much about her, or much wasn't publicized about her; then maybe she can start to run again and take up another life.

It was such a questionable and unneccesary move for her to go through all of that planning and scheming just to ask Miles what he knows about her, that it makes me wonder if maybe that wasn't what she wanted to know (the criminal stuff)... maybe there's even more to Kate that we don't know. Something "special," and since she saw him do all of that weird stuff with Naomi's body, maybe she knew that he might know about HER special abilities.

Who knows. I know it's a far out theory.

1) Because she was pregnant (or at least believed she was pregnant). She would die on the island. (Which is why the second part of her mission in eggtown was to find out what Sawyer really thought about being a father.)
2) Because she knew she had to go back (see #1). She had to figure out if there was any way she could conceal her identity in going back.
3) They made her the hero because they knew she was going to be facing trial.

She told Sawyer she is not pregnant. And she won't give him any. Only one reason I can think of that make me know for sure I am not pregnant and wont give it up "." !

I dont think she will want to leave the island, I think something unfortunate happens. Something that causes Claire to die and in the whole of the moment, Kate does not think, she just grabs Aaron and gets away, either this means off the island or of the freighter.

1. There was the possiblity that the survivors of 815 were believed to be dead. If she believed Naomi's word as truth, maybe she could go back unnoticed . There's also he rcomment to Sawyer re: staying on the island "how long can you play house?" I see this on TV and in movies alot--people turning themselves in b/c they just can't run anymore and finally want to face the music.
2.Miles could confirm if she'd been forgotten about or presumed dead. Since he already showed no surprised at seeing 815 survivors alive, she needed to take the questioning a step further.
3. They made Kate a hero to protect her "character" and use it to help her in her trial.

I agree with this theory. Kate's worried about something other than he r fugitive status and thought Miles might know something about that. It's not a coincidence that Miles told Ben "I know who you are." Kate posed he r question to Miles before he said that to Ben but Kate had some reason to believe, and fear, that Miles knew who she "really" is.

Q2: Katie has done something we don't know about. Something so bad she's afraid of the truth of it being learned. Cut a deal with Ben during their intimate breakfasts? I dunno.

But if she's not concealing something she did that's bad - she may be trying to protect something she thinks is good. Some agenda she needs yet to execute.

Perhaps she's expecting someone?

Could it be....?

Get pregnant and I will guarantee your safe escape from the island

Here are my best guesses:

1.) Why did Kate leave the island if she knew she would be going to jail?
The Oceanic 6 may not have chosen to leave the island. My guess is that we will find out they were selected to leave.

2.) Why was Kate so concerned what Miles knew about her?
The reason Kate was so interested goes to how easily she could "blend back in" and stay on the run. If nobody knew about her she could continue her fugitive life. If she was famous, that option wouldn't be viable.

3.) Why did they make Kate the hero?
Because I believe that the 6 were chosen for a specific purpose, it was imperative that Kate not be in jail. The story was created to allow her to live a free life.

Of course, Kate used her own name on the sat phone one time, so one can assume the freighties took a special interest in finding out all they could about her. This was also her plan in Born to Run, where she wanted to get on the raft, be among the first rescued under Joanna's name, and slip into the background like the Count of Monte Cristo upon reaching the mainland. That makes about as much sense as taking out an insurance policy the day before you blow up your mother's house. Of course the faces of the rescued would be instantly famous and blow her cover. But it illustrates the not-so-clever criminal mind that Kate is equipped with.

This sounds so much like something Ben would do/say. I also got the feeling that Kate was not being truthful when she claimed to not be pregnant.

You are right. I know my babies kicked after eating or drinking, especially something cold or hot. So I am looking for a connection between Aaron and the sea urchin that is not there. My husband has been telling me all along that I was crazy and there is no connection. I just thought I would put it out and see what you all had to say about it.

Thanks for your responses...
