I apologize if this was already discussed.
I see a lot of people talking about the island time being slower than "reality" time. Like 'slow motion'? I never got that impression. I thought of it as the island time is just behind that of the "real world time". Like always just about 30 minutes behind. Maybe this is what some of you are thinking, and I'm just reading it wrong.
My 2nd theory on that, is someone or something can move the island to different times. Possibly back and/or forward.
These are obviously 2 different ideas, but they seemed a little different from what's been discussed. Unless I missed one.

How is it different if time is slower or behind? Either way, the times arent matching up. If it's behind 30 minutes for every 1 day... that would def add up over time. Or did u mean that it's always just 30 min behind?
As for the Island moving or someone moving it, who knows!

Yes, always just 30 min, not accumulating.
Or, the island is able to jump around to different times in the future and the past. I do believe some of the passports were old and futuristic. Could explain that.
Something to think about.

I don't think that the island is behind the rest of the world, time wise. I was under the impression that time moved slower, thus when they leave the island it will be significantly later than they expect it to be, but then about an hour ago I realized that the printouts in The Pearl indicate that the date on the island was, in fact, the same date that the real world lost Oceanic 815. Now I think there is a nonlinear factor involved, but I'm not really sure what that is yet.

Anyway, my reasoning for thinking that the island isn't simply "behind" by 31 minutes, is that when Daniel calls Regina to have her fire the payload, I'm assuming that they somehow synchronize the clocks, whether it have been before Daniel left the ship, or somehow through the phone. I have to believe this because I'm sure Daniel would make sure that he did something like that. Assuming the clocks were synchronized at some point, that means Daniel's clock lost time at some point. I'm pretty positive that he didn't set the clock once he got on the island since he would have no reference. If your theory that the island is simply behind in time was right, the clock wouldn't have shown it. The clocks would be the same, but one of them would be different.

I hope I explained that in an understandable way.
