1- I think Minkowski has been on the island before
2- He's NOT Ben's man becasue Ben's man opened the sick bay door so they could get out
3- Minkowski may have been military to be a communications officer
4- He might have been Dharma but I'm thinking he was military, perhaps WWII era as we have some strong connections to this = Locke's pineapple grenade and the WWII knife that Goodwin and Anna Lucia talked about AND Toomey and Leonard heard numbers coming from the island's radio tower

Minkowski said that he and another fellow went to visit the island because they were bored and just wanted to see it...perhaps they crossed some sort of threshold...right soon thereafter they started having the "time trips" in which the other fellow died. Then Minkowski died. They didn't have a "constant".

or what if Minkowski was Dharma, but when he was flashing through time? So technically he was on the island in his time travel moments.

What I wondered is Minkowski dead in the time he was going to.. since he was dead on the freighter in this time. Or is he alive then knowing when he will die. This is an awful lot to digest!

I get the sneaking feeling that Minkowski is linked to Kelvin and the guy who blew his brains out (can't recall his name) on the ceiling of the swan hatch.

Minkowski got a little curious!!
He snuck out with a friend on a dingy boat or something to see the island.
He didn't expect what happened to him.

Daniel said "it" effects people differently, so maybe his memory was not wiped.
