The phone number is fake, the UK equivalent of 555 in the US. The numbers 020 7946 0000 to 020 7946 0999 are assigned for Drama purposes......or is that for DHARMA purposes?

How would Desmond have known the new dialling code for London - it changed between 1996 and 2004? Maybe Sayid has been keeping up-to-date on such matters (has he ever been to London?).

In 1996 Penny's number would have begun 0171 or 0181, followed by 7 digits. In 2004 it would begin 0207 or 0208. Either Penny told Desmond too many digits or she knew the code would change in four years time and gave him the new code! Or TPTB didn't do their research...

Desmond never said the dialing code for London, he only said it was a London Number. I'm sure Sayid, an ex communications officer who traveled through Europe would know the present London Dialing Code.

My point is, the number Penny gives to Desmond is not a real London number in 1996, only in 2004.

In 1996, Penny gives her number as 79460893. This would mean her full number including area code would be 0171 79460893, which is one too many digits.

In 2004, the number 0207 946 0893 would work. It has the right number of digits.

It adds up to 46, which is half of 23...which is one of the numbers!! :eek2:
