View Full Version : Daniel's Notebook
Guinevere 02-29-2008, 12:16 AM Did anyone else wonder how Daniel's kept all his notes for his experiments over the last 8 years in one notebook??!! I do a lot of research - not scientific - but I go through a notebokk about every 6 months or so. Even a master notebook with collated facts gets filled up quicker than that! I just thought it was interesting that he had brought the very notebokk with him that would remind him of who his constant it. Pretty cool though I have to say.
maverick9six 02-29-2008, 12:19 AM I thought the same thing- but maybe he just writes the MOST important stuff in that notebook. With all his physics equations, etc- he would have a wall full of lab notebooks for real.
Bella 02-29-2008, 12:24 AM I'm thinking that he's gone through a lot of notebooks, but this one contains the most important info -- kind of a cheat sheet version.

Yea. Plus we don't know how many notebooks he brought. he could have a couple more stashed in his bag.
Guinevere 02-29-2008, 01:18 AM That's true. I did think later that it could be that he copied his most important formulae in one notebook since he knew he was traveling and space was at a minimun. Mystery solved, I guess!
Gkaplan 02-29-2008, 01:24 AM I thought perhaps as his condition degraded he wouldn't be keeping as many notes. I thought I saw the notes getting messier as towards the end of the book where he stared flipping backwards to find the message. I know I tend to go through notebooks rather quick, but if his mind was getting worse he might spend more time going over this old notes rather than writing new ones.
Guinevere 02-29-2008, 01:34 AM It did look a lot messier towards the end of the notebook, didn't it? All those shots of radiation and then, presumably, a previous attempt to get to the Island might have scrambled things pretty well and he wasn't as neat in his note taking and might not have been taking as many notes.
allergygal 02-29-2008, 01:40 AM I think the bigger question is why his notebook had the note about Desmond in it, yet he and Desmond didn't seem to know each other on the island. It's like Desmond's time travel to 1996 made an immediate change to the present in regards to the notebook but not in regards to their memories.
LilMissRabbit 02-29-2008, 01:40 AM Well, Daniel seemed to expect that something might be up with the time fields on the island, based on the way he had already brought the materials for his clock-projectile experiment. I figured when he said "in case something happens to me," he meant on the island itself. In other words, he was anticipating going somewhere with potentially dangerous time fields when he wrote that note.
Bella 02-29-2008, 01:44 AM I don't know. I think most of us start out trying to keep things like notebooks, address books, etc., neat, but they eventually deteriorate because we can't be bothered to remain so fastidious. That might explain why it got messier as it went on -- or, perhaps, there really is something to it.
TabbyRasa 02-29-2008, 01:51 AM Guin...great topic! It will make for great screencap persual...
ozieozwall 02-29-2008, 01:59 AM If you know your going on a future expedition maybe you would compile a mater notebook.
Guinevere 02-29-2008, 02:18 AM Well, Daniel probably didn't realize who Desmond was to him until he read it in his notebook. It seems he's having trouble with his memory and that's understandable.
I can't explain about why Des didn't recognize Dan but I guess that's another thread.
You're right, Tabby! I was already thinking I have to check LostMedia for the screencaps of his notebook. ;)

The TPTB have hinted that there is one timeline. That time visits do not change the invitable future.
